À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION

I'm Singing in the Rain! Just Singing in the Rain! What a glorious feeeeeeeling, I'm haaaaappy again. I'm laughing at clouds, so dark up above, just singing and dancing in the rain. Do de do doo do de doo do dooo do.

ABOUT ME

I am an evolving human. The more I travel, the more I see, the more I realize how little I know and how much I have left to discover. It's an exciting phenomenon.

A friend of mine used to look back on his day every night and ask himself whether it was a day worth repeating. The goal was to learn to live life to the fullest and take advantage of every moment before it slipped away forever. I love the comfort of routine and fall into it so easily, but time passes too quickly for it to be wasted that way. It's a hard habit to break but I'm trying, and therefore developing a very fortunate addiction to travel.

I'm pretty good at entertaining myself. My favorite way to pass time: People watching. And taking pictures of old couples who dress the same way.

PHILOSOPHY

Time flies like the wind. Fruit flies like bananas.

Dai diamanti non nasce niente, dal letame nascono i fiori. -Fabrizio de Andre

"If you don't have a song to sing, you're ok
You know how to get along humming. Hum.
If you don't have a date, celebrate
Go out and sit on the lawn and do nothing
'Cause it's just what you must do
Nobody does it anymore.
NO I DON'T BELIEVE IN THE WASTING OF TIME
BUT I DON'T BELIEVE THAT I'M WASTING MINE"

--"Waltz", Fiona Apple --It sums up EXACTLY what I believe.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I thoroughly enjoyed eating raw garlic cloves with Zach at 2 in the morning.

Centres d'intérêt

Travel (obviously), making new friends, writing letters, playing the piano, collecting pictures of old people, learning to dance. People watching is by far my all time favorite. I don't really like to sight-see (with exceptions of course). I would much rather live somewhere and experience it as a local. Magic tricks are nice. I used to do them for birthday parties and I remember aproximately none of them. Ehrm...need to get a few under my belt again.

"If you wanna be happy for the rest of your life, never make a pretty woman your wife. From my personal point of view, get an ugly girl to marry you!" Jimmy Soul has an interesting point.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Loreena McKennitt is my all time favorite musical artist...it is usually difficult to pick favorites but she is IT. Malicorne (midieval music) is a close runner up. Marie LaForet, Muse, Tri Yann, Pink Martini, Sting, Devotchka, music from the 40s and 50s (yes, Dinah Shore etc), and a whole lot more...my music collection is more of a compilation of random songs than anything else.

I don't watch very many movies and I've never had TV...but I really like psychological movies (One Hour Photo, Girl Interrupted, Awakenings, Secret Window, etc) or movies with strange twists (like Memento). Twilight Zone (the old ones), Waking Ned Devine, The Great Dictator, Yes, I have all of "Men in Tights" memorized, we all have a movie like that right?
I've recently been introduced to The Big Bang Theory and thoroughly enjoy it.

Book: Jazz by Toni Morrison. The Gathering by Anne Enright. Book of Ruth by Jane Hamilton.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Angel's Landing in Zion National Park, Utah is THE most beautiful and breath taking place I have been to in my entire life. Yes indeed. But I think that's partly because of the adrenaline rush I got trying to get to the top.

EDIT: Ahhhhhh. I'm sorry Zion, but you have been out-breathed by Picos de Europa.

Hanging out waaaaaaaaay longer than I meant to in Dunfanaghy, Ireland with friends I met there and Desmond (the hostel owner who adopted us).

Attempting (and failing) to sleep on the beach in Reggio di Calabria.

Playing some crazy instrument and dancing with a group of moroccans out in the desert.

DID (dancing in the dark)--very dangerously addicting, please proceed with care.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I have a piano, a guitar, some castanuelas, a harmonica, a tin whistle, a Santir, a few languages, a whole lot of patience, and an eagerness to learn. I'll lend you the instruments, you teach me. I can teach you the basics of macramé.
