Hi, I’m My—a college student studying Earth Sciences. I’m passionate about nature and the environment and am excited to contribute to solving climate problems.

Traveling is my favorite way to learn and grow. During my time in Thailand, I lived with a host family, which taught me more about culture, connection, and adaptability than any solo trip ever could. I’ve realized I thrive when immersed in new places, languages, and traditions.

In my free time, I’m all about balance—literally, since I’ve been boxing for over a year and love the thrill of learning new sports! When I’m not throwing punches (in the ring, of course), you’ll find me drawing, crocheting, cooking, or enjoying the outdoors. If you’re a fan of Asian cuisine, I’d love to whip up a dish for you—no promises, but I’ll try not to disappoint!

I’m also a fan of late-night talks, laughter-filled game nights, and any activity that makes me think and move. Oh, and animals? Big fan. Dogs, cats, or anything fluffy—count me in.

I want to connect with locals and truly immerse myself in the culture, experiencing life from their perspective rather than as a typical tourist. Couchsurfing allows me to go beyond surface-level stereotypes and gain a deeper understanding of the community, traditions, and daily life. Music: My playlist is a blend of favorites, from the indie vibes of Arctic Monkeys, The Neighbourhood, and Cigarettes After Sex to the electrifying energy of K-pop groups like BTS and Stray Kids. Their compositions always give me a boost! I’m also a huge fan of Laufey—her charming and whimsical songs never fail to lift my mood. Noah Kahan has a special place in my heart, as well as country music.

Movies: I have a soft spot for dystopian films that keep me on the edge of my seat, full of suspense and the thrill of the impossible. The Hunger Games, The Maze Runner, and Arcane are among my top picks. On quieter days, I enjoy cozying up with 80s British aesthetic films and period dramas like Anne with an E, Little Women, and Pride and Prejudice. Watching these during the Christmas season adds an extra layer of magic and comfort.

Books:My reading list leans heavily toward fantasy. I’ve journeyed through the worlds of *Harry Potter* and The Lord of the Rings, but The Picture of Dorian Gray holds a unique place in my heart. Its haunting beauty and profound themes left a lasting impression on me.

I solo traveled through Vietnam, an adventure that reshaped how I see the world. From kayaking in Ha Long Bay’s emerald waters to cycling through Hoi An’s rice fields and lantern-lit streets, every moment felt like a dream. I navigated bustling cities like Hanoi, tried local street food, and explored the Cu Chi tunnels, learning so much about resilience and history. Traveling solo taught me to trust myself, embrace spontaneity, and find beauty in the unexpected—like sharing laughs with locals over a bowl of cơm tấm or catching a stunning sunrise over the sand dunes in Mui Ne.
