About Me

I'm a curious person, always want to explore and learn new things.
I'm easy going, and open minded, willing to meet people and discover new things.

I was born in Ukraine and lived there till age of 22. Then, because of different reasons and unknown forces I moved to Canada. I used to live in Vancouver but settled in Edmonton, AB. I know, you would ask, how come I moved out from Vancouver? However, don't get me wrong, I love Vancouver, but it is too expensive and the weather there is too depressive for me. I am one of those weirdos who prefer cold weather to the permanent rain. In Edmonton though winter is 9 months long so you have no choice but to enjoy it or you gonna suffer all that time. I like it! I like ice skating, however, I suck at it. Last year, finally, I discovered snowboarding and this year spent almost every weekend in the mountains.
In the summer time I usually spend weekends hiking and camping in the mountains with my friends. Or if staying in the city, we play Ultimate Frisbee, but since I really suck at it too, I became an unofficial photographer of our group.

I have a small tradition, on my birthday I try to travel and see the places where I never been. its hard to keep it, but I try my best.

Ask me anything you wish to know, I will try to give u an answer. I can show you around and give you some advice where to go and what to do around here, if you are interested.

You can send me a last minute request but I will have, mostly likely, something going on and in that case I might not be able to dedicate enough time to you , which kinda defeats the purpose of CS. So please text me a few days in advance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've been hosting since I got my own appartment. but it was always my friends or friends of my friends. Once it was a guy from Ukraine who found me through social networks and was asking a lot of questions about moving to Canada, and then, when he was able to move he asked me to host him for a first couple weeks. now we are friends.
I heard about CS but never thought to be part of it since i was not used to strangers staying at my place. Then last year's experience changed my mind. I was lucky, because my first CS experience was with my friend when we were traveling in USA. He's been on CS for a while so for him it was not a big deal. We stayed in Salt Lake City for a night, and the host was a university student. I was impressed with how friendly she was, so curious to listen and share travel/life stories. Right there I was filled with CS spirit, but because of my procrastination it took me almost a year to finally register here.

For me, the main point of CS is to meet people and share the moment of discovering things, which couldn't have been learned without CS.
