About Me

Hi Folks, before you read on...

-We love hosting travelers, and we also tend to prefer a bit of notice. So if you're planning ahead, we'll be much more likely to be able to host you than, say, the day prior to your arrival.

-COVID times: please don't stay with us if you're not feeling well. We're vaccinated, and we've been traveling around ourselves lately. That said, if you know you're sick, please stay with us another time :)

ABOUT US
We're pretty easy going. We're both researchers/psychologists with a bent towards the imaginative and mystical. We tend to work a lot these days, but try not to let that get in the way with living the good life. We've each traveled a good deal, and have liked just about everywhere we've been.

Things we value:
- Reflecting on what matters, and finding ways to act on, move toward, and foster those things
- Pursuing intellectual passions without leaving the body behind
- Living reciprocally with the forests around us
- Learning from the folks we meet and get to host

ABOUT OUR PLACE
We live in a bungalow in the northeast area of Atlanta. We have a sweet black cat who adores all humans but not other animals. If you stay with us, you'll hear a lot of birdsongs, and you'll probably witness the intrepid activities of our front-yard squirrel family.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW WE PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

If you'd like a place to stay in Atlanta, drop us a line. We host us much as we can, but we can get pretty busy with work and aren't always able to take on couch surfers. We always prefer to stay with people when traveling - it's really the best way to get to know a place.

When we're couch surfing ourselves we're always happy to barter with folks -- we can cook a great meal.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

This looks a bit different for each of us...

Roman: I've couchsurfed a bit on this site, and have had only good experiences. I've couchsurfed as part of elaborate plans, and have stayed with people I met on the street (like a time in Manmad, India, during a motorcycle trip from Goa to Manali). When people come through, either through this site or friends of friends, I get to meet nice couch-surfers. I feel like I've gotten some great hospitality over the years, and it's the least I can do to leave my door open.

Deanna: I'd never used this site until Roman introduced me to it, but I've done a lot of informal couchsurfing (staying with folks I've met while traveling, or with friends of friends). The most meaningful experiences I've had while traveling have had nothing to do with the place and everything to do with the people there. Glad to provide a home base for you for whatever brings you to Atlanta.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately? Roman's been enjoying Octavia Butler, Isabelle Allende, Alasdair MacIntyre. Deanna's been enjoying Robin Wall Kimmerer, David Abram, and (always and forever) the poetry of Jim Harrison.

Music: bluegrass, drums, hip hop, jazz, rock, electronica
Deanna has taken a handful of lessons in 8 different instruments (most of them stringed), but is proficient in basically none of them.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One? Well, there's two of us...
Roman: Walked the Camino de Santiago
Deanna: Solo backpacking in the Gila Wilderness
