ABOUT ME

I like to explore in all sorts of weather. Someday soon I want to live in a tent someplace with a temperate climate and lots of water. I like finding quiet places and listening to sounds that usually go unnoticed, but I also like to dance to loud music. I love to play games... "leggsies" is a current favorite. There are uncountable things that I want to learn--how to sing and play the fiddle, how to predict the weather and write better, and basically anything that allows me to communicate better with other people. I would love to meet you and take your personal, unintended course in how to communicate.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is many absurdities and contradictions. It is simple and irreducibly complex and very painful but let us not deny, beautiful, with all the bus rides and mountain climbs and chirping birdies and double entendres and hat-shattering people that we meet as we travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've slept on many a couch and recently: stayed with Bobby in Chicago and Rachel in Chicago and Antje in Honolulu, all wonderful experiences and good people and comfortable sleeps (met them all through this here website)

being in the water, mythologies, childrens' stories, evolution, cosmology, climbing things and being terrified at the top, making absurd faces at people, stream of consciousness talking, little brown moles scurrying across the road with long naked snouts. water at night!

Pynchon, Faulkner, Vonnegut, Philip K Dick, Confederacy of Dunces, Catch-22, Seamus Heaney, David Foster-Wallace is a tentative new addition, GRHS, Chronicles of Narnia, and oh I like some music let us say Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Four Tet, Boards of Canada, Animal Collective, Deerhoof, Yes and Pink Floyd and well Kate Bush and Mahavishnu Orchestra, maybe some Talking Heads, actually David Byrne is sort of an idol of mine, I wonder how he feels about his fanship, and let's sprinkle a generous helping of Tom Waits thereabouts.

I gained freedom from Uncle Sam's academic tethers with my own mind in my head and my own head on my shoulders. I saw reindeer and nights of summer sunlight in Sweden.

Well really what I want to learn now is how to be open and fluid and fluent in everything I do.

Things I could teach... oh I don't know, hopefully everyone teaches honesty and creativity by just being themselves.
