About Me

I studied philosophy and German in Freiburg and finished my PhD in 2014.
I am writing books and I am working on my new novel and on a larger philosophical book about good and evil. Various other projects persist in the development hell. :-)

Currently I am working with many fantastic Vietnamese kids (5-8 years) as a supervisor and tutor. I teach them German and mathematics and they teach me patience...

Oh, my guest-list might give the impression that I only host women, but that's not true. Men are also welcome, also couples or groups if I have time and can manage the organisation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people. Some of my best friends I met through Couchsurfing. And some countries I have traveled with the help of Couchsurfing (Iran for example).

Interests

I'm curious about intelligent people who sincerely strive to have a good time.

Music, Movies, and Books

As a germanist and philosopher I fell in love with a few greatest books in the world, for example Sartre's 'Being and Nothingness'. Feel free to take a stroll through my bookshelf.

Books (or kind of books) I like: J.-P. Sartre: Das Sein und das Nichts. M. Heidegger: Sein und Zeit. G. E. Moore: Principia Ethica. M. Frisch: Homo faber (its not only a 'schoolbook'), Milorad Pavić: Das Chasarische Wörterbuch. Th. Mann: Doktor Faustus. M. H.: Vaußt (much more better than Goethes Faust). Everything from V. Nabokov, especially Lolita and Ada. J. Cortázar: Rayuela. N. Gogol: Die Nase. F. M. Dostojewski: Aufzeichnungen aus dem Kellerloch. Ramón Gómez de la Serna: Greguerías. A. Schnitzler: Fräulein Else. K. Capec: Der Krieg mit den Molchen. B. Vian: Der Schaum der Tage.

I also reading feminist literature (S. de Beauvoir, S. Sontag, V. Woolf, A. Nin, B. Groult, D. Lessing, H. Arendt) and not least I can recommend novels from the great writer Joseph Roth.

Movies (or kind of movies) I like: Balance (shortfilm by W. and Ch. Lauenstein), Alien (1-3), The Color of Pomegranates, Blade Runner, Valkyrie, Strange Days, Sein oder Nichtsein (Lubitsch), Tanin no kao, Schindlers List, 12 angry men, Black Moon (L. Malle), Eraserhead, Black Book (P. Verhoeven), Inception, Mùi đu đủ xanh etc.

a coffee and a long conversation.

For women safety travel: I life with a female roommate and the room with the couch is lockable to one side - and for the other side I am always knocking at the door.
