CURRENT MISSION I have miles and miles to go, before I sleep!
ABOUT ME Am told I am witty, got a sense of humor - and also very passionate.
Perhaps I am, perhaps am not - you got to tell me!
Am (as we all are) always travelling, if not physically, at the subconscious levels.
my blog : http://alismac123.wordpress.com
-------------------------------------------------------
since October 2014, volunteer at the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
NOTE: I would be happy to give a tour of the Paleontology Exhibit Hall at the HMNS to anyone interested.
Since 2008, been volunteering on and off with the Houston chapter of the American Red Cross's Disaster Assistance Team.
Actively involved in NASA's Education and Public Outreach to speak abt science, evolution etc to the general public.
PHILOSOPHY Respecting others is the only way to respect oneself. Adventures are vital to maximize our potential and increase the chances of discoveries.
So lets go on adventures - which could be physical or simply intellectual, introspective and spiritual (in a non-religious, non-denominational way).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By hosting, meeting up/helping visiting surfers, sharing ride with those who need one, and CSing. I would be happy to show visitors around town - when am free - feel free to shoot me an email.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have met several couchsurfers, couchsurfed and hosted surfers. In the beginning, I was skeptical about the concept - but once i got over the initial skepticism, it has been smooth - so far.
CSurfing helps to get to know people better, understand ppl from different perspectives, their thought processes and thus helps me evolve too.
There are tons of things i just do not know about, and this is a great way of learning and sharing. Chances of CSing with me increase if you were to read my following blog post and mention in your request the date on which this incident happened! https://alismac123.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/my-own-the-way-back-survival-at-high-altitude/

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - discovering new genres!
Movies - tons of them - ask me! Liked “1917” (gorgeous cinematography the visuals very elegiac, as is the musical score and nuanced acting), and, “The Joker” in recent weeks.
Books - ALISTAIR MACLEAN - the greatest pulp fiction author whose books kindled my love for the English language. But I have so many to list, the space wont be sufficient, John Sandford, Stephen Coonts, James Lee Burke - to name a few others
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Taking care of my mother recently after she underwent a surgery- I got some understanding of what it takes to take care of a child.
This has redefined and reshaped my outlook incredibly: I had a life-defining experience in the Rockies on the 27th of May, 2013 - please read it here: https://alismac123.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/my-own-the-way-back-survival-at-high-altitude/
I took a course on "Music and the brain" - and it was a WOW experience!
I have a fossil named after my discovery of the same.. I stumbled/discovered the fossil 'Denazinosuchus' - 70 million years old from the Upper Cretaceous - my first fossil discovery on my first paleontological field trip with the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.
The most amazing things I have seen are very personal/spiritual - the strange feeling of melancholy that sets in during a weekend afternoon is an inner calling for private mulling over the self - thats one example! And another - https://alismac123.wordpress.com/2013/07/14/my-own-the-way-back-survival-at-high-altitude/
