About Me
Hi I'm Mike! I'm currently travelling the world with my wife Sarah. We met due to our love of travelling and lived in New Orleans for 10 years with our wonderful dog Waffles.
In March 2017, Sarah and I finally got married and two months later, we sold everything we owned and set out to see the world. I built a bed in our car, so we started with a road trip across the USA and Canada, driving 15,000+ miles from May to November and seeing unbelievable sights along the way. We drove the coastal highway in California, camped out under the stars, and visited 28 different National Parks, from Yosemite to Banff to Yellowstone to Zion. It was an incredible trip!
After the road trip, in November, we left America to travel South America. While Americans are great to meet, we're SO excited to meet everyone we can from Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, and Columbia. We're practicing our Spanish (Sarah is much better than me), tasting local food (vegetarian for Sarah), and seeing the sights. I'm eager to get back into Couchsurfing -- seeing a city from a local's perspective is such a memorable experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first hosting experience was when my friend and I hosted a pair of awesome gents from Germany for a few days while we were in college. It was a blast. We also had a handful of people coming in-and-out during Mardi Gras season, and I tried to show them the best time I could.
I surfed for the first time on a couple couches during a spring break trip to Okinawa during the Spring of 2008. Staying with a local of the area was a completely new and awesome experience. That summer, I travelled around Southeast Asia, staying on as many couches as I could!
Sarah has also been a member for years and met lots of members when she lived in and participated in local CS group events in Italy and Egypt.
Since then I've been hosting as often as possible and surfing every time I travel. I just started to get involved in the events aspect of the community!
Interests
We love beautiful sights. Sometimes it's out the side of a car window, sometimes it's a great sunset over the city, and sometimes you have to get up at 5am to hike to it.
