ABOUT ME

I invite you to follow along with me on my journey:

Funny thing about me: I have a fear of flying. Knowing this, my parents offered me a trip overseas for graduating early (when I was 16). They thought for sure I would turn it down because of the flight. Little did they know that my desire to see the world would trump all obstacles.

So my very first plane ride was a very long overseas trip to Paris and London when I was 16. When I touched down in my hometown after 2 full weeks (standard vacation time), I was almost in tears - feeling like I had just begun to scratch the surface. I promised myself I would find a way to travel more. MUCH more. Now I fly more than almost anybody I know. Life is funny like that.

By now I have streamlined my life enough to the point where I can work from anywhere (with Internet), and travel as much as possible. It's not always a cakewalk - and has definitely required sacrifice, but it has been ENTIRELY worth it.

I used to be vegan, but as I get older I realize I don't want to miss any great experiences in life. How could I not try alligator in Louisiana? Rabbit in France? Crickets in Cambodia? Just a firm believer in moderation:) I am still very versatile with my diet though, so whatever the situation requires is fine with me.

The last few years found me "living" in DC, Berkeley, San Francisco and New York City. Last year I did a 6 month tour of SE Asia and this year I've done 3 months in India and am now in the beautiful Philippines! After this, who knows?

PHILOSOPHY

"Doing what you Love is Freedom, Loving what you do is Happiness!!" My main focus is designing a life that is truly worth living and loving - making the most of my time on the blue planet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'd like to meet like-minded people along the way...trade location-independent/travel tips. I look forward to meeting new friends who eventually I can host in SF....there's nobody better to show you around this beautiful city! I have a very flexible schedule and have explored a ton of what the city has to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed across the country a few years ago. While there were countless amazing experiences that come to mind, the one that stands out most was staying in Key West with the original inspiration for the couchsurfing community. Wanting to explore Iceland, the founder of the site blasted off emails to a bunch of college students explaining that he was a young American looking to explore their country. He wondered if anybody might offer a place and a tour, and my host was the one who took him up on it! The rest is history. My host ended up moving to Key West after doing some couchsurfing of her own. We weathered a hurricane together down there!

Interests

I don't care for travel much...I kid, I kid. I love to write, to play music (multi-instrumentalist), hike and camp. I love dogs, photography, biking and sudoku.
