About Me
Hi! We are Maye (she) and Edu(he), an open minded and very curious couple who loves new experiences and new people (the account has been used by Edu for many years but now we always travel together).
Our friends would describe us as extroverted, expressive, transparent, spontaneous... But we tend to be somewhat polite and calm until we get confident with someone just met (which usually doesn't take long). We are also quite scatterbrains, day-dreamers, you know... We forget things, lose concentration... haha
We've always loved music and Edu plays guitar since he was five and I sing, sometimes play guitar too. We enjoy jamming with friends, composing, teaching and learning, going to live music places...
Edu: Having left my home country –Spain– at 21, to live in a little island in western Norway for a year, my plan was to continue traveling. But then one year after I moved to Switzerland and I got engaged in professional and educational projects and ended up spending 5 years living there. In this time I traveled quite a lot as a backpacker but just during my holidays.
However, last July 2018 I quit my job, flew to Spain to visit my family and travel around my own country for a month and booked a flight Madrid-LA, where I started my new nomad life. The first three months I lived and traveled in a van around the west coast of the US and then, I took another flight to Lima, where I started my travels around South America for almost a year.
During this beautiful trip I couchsurfed and hitch-hiking as much as I can and I'm being so lucky to meet so many amazing people, having many magical and enriching moments and experiencing the true meaning of this community: Sharing, learning from one another, opening your mind and having fun!
And when I was visiting Colombia I met Maye, fell in love with her and ended up moving back to Spain to build a life with her and it has been 2 years since then!
Now we live in a town next to Madrid City and work as musicians and music teachers.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We think it's the best way to connect with the locals when you're traveling and share stories, knowledge and culture.
Edu tried both being a guest and hosting people and in both cases always had beautiful experiences so there's no doubt he wants to keep doing it as much as he can :)

Music, Movies, and Books
Music:
To be honest, almost everything but mainly pop and rock, not the most mainstream although I have some guilty pleasures haha
I love latinamerican folklore and afrolatin music, especially Cuban and Brazilian music.
Also soul, blues, rhythm and blues.. 60s rock...
I listen to a lot of singer-songwriters in spanish... (Silvio Rodríguez, Jorge Drexler, Pedro Guerra...)
I am also a big fan of The Beatles (Paul team hehe)
Anyway I also enjoy and dance to any kind of music at parties!
Movies:
I love movies with an interesting idea behind, something that makes you think... Mainly related to science fiction, psychology, phylosophy, fantasy...
Books:
I'm not such a great reader but I would love to hear recommendations of books that can hook me and turn me into a bookworm.
Now during my travels I'm growing very fond of reading with classics like "On the road" by Jack Kerouac... Fantasy like "The name of the wind" or non-fiction like "Sapiens"
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Northern lights, Sahara dessert, scuba diving in Thailand, Berlin's nightlife, swimming in the night among the glowing plankton...
Traveled for a year around Latin America
Hitch-hiked from Santiago de Chile to Porto Alegre in Brazil, sleeping mostly outside in my tent or couchsurfing...
Traveled around the west coast of the United States living in my car.
And I have some funny and crazy traveling stories I always enjoy sharing over a beer!
Teach, Learn, Share
If you're starting to play guitar I can give you some lessons or if you are learning some other instruments I can help you with some music theory or harmony (that's my favorite thing)
We can also play music together, cook something, go for a drink, have a nice deep conversation, share experiences and traveling tips, go dancing...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Delicious Spanish dishes (tortilla de patata, croquetas, gazpacho, paella...)
Music and guitar lessons or a little private jam session.
A nice deep conversation over a drink.
Help with some tasks at home like cleaning up or washing dishes.
