About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Pack all the stuff I've accumulated in a year living in South Korea, travel to the Philippines, and head home to be a maid of honor in my best friend's wedding

ABOUT ME

I'm a fun-loving, open minded little lady. I'm usually pretty laid back and easy going (one of my friends is CONVINCED I'm not a Gemini due to my easy-going, drama free ways)but I'll admit there are times when I can be a firecracker, in a fun way of course!

I come from a bi-cultural family (Mother is American, Father is Moroccan) which I think sparks my inquisitiveness for learning about other cultures and the way people live in other places of the world.

I think the key to building good relationships is to roll with the punches and not be too uptight; that is unless you're getting dumped on. I love learning new things and seeing new places (don't we all) and love to hear other people's perspectives on life. I don't really know what else I should say here so I suppose I'll cut it off. :)

PHILOSOPHY

Life was meant to be lived to the fullest... You can't do that by sitting on your ass.

Treat others as you wish to be treated!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Planning to surf to a couch near you! If you're willing to host I'm willing to buy you dinner or a few drinks! Upon my return to Korea in a few months I'll also be willing to host some people, but may only have a yoga mat to offer on the floor.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, but am looking forward to getting started! I've heard great things from others, and read about great experiences on this site!

Interests

Love learning about and exploring new cultures. I sometimes think I should have studied anthropology. Swimming, used to be competitive, but now I prefer the beach! Playing board games, clubbing, hanging out in a dive bar (as in a hole in the wall), laughing, enjoying the company of others, and trying new things (usually this happens with food, but I'll try almost anything once!)

When I took an art history class in university I fell in love with architecture. I don't really go so far as to study it in depth, but when I travel I am fascinated by the types of buildings and structures I come across and always wonder how in the world people were able to build such amazing things with the types of technology they had a the time. I think I got this from my father who, when we traveled together, would always touch the beams of old buildings to pay respect to the people who died as slaves; working to erect the structures.

I also like taking mini adventures such as trying new things, random roadtrips with friends, exploring new parts of places I've been to a million times.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Pirates of the Caribbean (entire series), Sex and the City (tv show and movies, though I was disappointed by the portrayal of the Middle East in the second film), Inception, Love and Basketball, My Best Friend's Wedding, Karate Kid (new), Under The Tuscan Sun, Role Models, Seven Pounds, The Pursuit of Happyness, Billy Madison... who am I kidding, I just love movies!

TV: The Amazing Race is by far one of my favorites, also like Project Runway, The Biggest Loser, Sex and The City, Weeds, Law and Order: SVU, and The Golden Girls

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumped off a GIANT cliff (which had grave markers at the top) in Hawaii, broke my tailbone, almost got sucked into a cave, climbed all the way back up, and had to drive my moped back afterwards! It SUCKED, but was SO AWESOME at the same time!

Also planning to go ziplining in Korea before I leave in the next 4 weeks!

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Morocco, Sweden

Countries I’ve Lived In

South Korea, United States
