About Me
Hi! I was born and raised in South Africa, studied Multimedia in Cape Town under the foot of Table Mountain and lived and worked there before I grabbed my backpack and headed out into the big wide world. At this time the only country allowing working holiday visas for South Africans was the UK, September 2000. I lived and worked and travelled from London and then moved to Cornwall...sun, sand and sea! I have two boys, 8 and 10 years old and they are great travelling companions too! I work as a freelance web developer and am in love with my flexi time. I have always loved travelling and embrace and value change... the boys and I briefly relocated to Nashville, Tennessee this year for a few months which was great and I got to do a bit of independent exploring. As I never took a gap year after school... I am set on creating gaps where I can to see the world, meet interesting people and build new friendships along the way. I love hiking, camping, singing, climbing, swimming, surfing (badly), snowboarding (getting better), long boarding, slack lining (hopeful) and whatever else tickles my fancy. I love listening to stories and making new ones... that's why we live, right? I'm easy-going and I love my friends and my family.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love acoustic, spanish guitar and even a bit of bluegrass. I love uplifting electronic music, Cafe Del Mar, piano, indie... I have a very varied music taste. Movies.... I can immerse myself very easily so I tend to stay away from anything heavy (as I WILL cry) or anything too scary (because I WILL have nightmares)... I absolutely love Kung Fu (even the old badly dubbed ones). Really love something with quirky humour... Kung Fu Hustle, Zatoichi, Ip man. I'm also a bit of a closet romantic so things like Amelie floats my boat. Books... I absolutely loved 'Shantaram' by Gregory Robert Davies and most things by Haruki Murakami. I also enjoy reading classics such as Dracula, Jane Austen, The Great Gatsby. Loved 'A man called Ove', 'The Goldfinch', 'Life of Pi'... and many more.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Road tripping to Yosemite on my own and hiking up half dome.
Teach, Learn, Share
Try to find something amazing in the every day.
If you can change something, change it immediately and don't worry about the things you can't change.
You can do so much more than you think you can... always aim for that something that makes you feel slightly out of depth so you can move forward. Staying in your comfort zone won't do that for you.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I do not climb nearly enough and mostly indoor. But I can lead climb and belay if you need a belay partner. Absolutely love bouldering and have been to Fontainebleau in France quite a few times. In fact, if you want to come to Cornwall, we can drive my car and take the ferry from Plymouth to Roscoff and go to Font. Best times are Autumn and Spring. There's something for all levels.... just pack a picnic and head into the woods and be prepared to get very dirty. We can do yoga together... but I also practice it a lot, in summer I do you yoga on the outdoor deck overlooking the sea. I love to hear and share stories. I'm a pretty useful person to go camping with I reckon. Love to go for a run or a hike. Love to go for a surf (I can only do small waves ;)) Absolutely love sea swimming. I also have two sea kayaks that are awesome to take out for a spin. I'm also great with just kicking back with a drink and some good music. I am an excellent listener.
