Hi, I'm Nadine, I’m 20 years old and from Vienna, Austria. The first thing that would come to my mind when I have to describe myself is that I am a solo adventurer, I love the outdoors. One of my all time favorite hobbies since I was a small child is hiking, and for 5 years now also backpacking. But besides that, in the outdoors I also love going on runs and cycling. Other hobbies from me are dancing (I've been dancing at national and international competitions), yoga, kickboxing, reading, meditating, playing piano sometimes and travelling. I've been to thirteen countries at least once so far and I intend to visit more in the coming years. If I had to pick my favourites, I would say Norway and Canada, because of their stunning mountains, the cold climate and additionally in Canada because of the amazing human beings.

I am generally someone that loves to push and challenge myself and to try to learn new things. Plus, I would also say that I am kind of an adrenaline junkie, I love skydiving and use every opportunity to walk on cliffs when I am in the mountains.
I am a communicative and open person that likes to interact and spend time with others, but I can also stay without company for a long time and I often like the quiet, doing things on my own and being independent. Others would (and do) describe me as a strong-minded and dedicated person and I also sometimes tend to overdeliver. I like living minimalistic, only with the things you really need, can live under rougher conditions and often even like it if I'm being honest.

My big dream for years has been travelling through North America only with a backpack for over a year, and after high school I realized that dream. From May 2023 till September 2024, I travelled through Canada and USA and simultaneously worked and volunteered. I met so many different people, slept at so many different places and had so many amazing experiences during my journey. I also faced a lot of challenges but it has all been a lesson and for every single one I’m grateful for.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am really excited to meet and exchange with people from all over North America with different backgrounds and different stories. I would love to get cultural exchange and to learn new things as well as also being able to teach something others. I am also looking forward to experiencing different ways of living and housing lifestyles throughout Canada and the USA. Lastly, I love the aspect that it is super beneficial for me to safe some money for my future travels.
I think Couchsurfing gives one a lot of different opportunities and advantages that I definitely don't want to miss out on on my journey through North America.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge music fan. I love listening to music, dancing, singing and playing piano. My music taste is also quite vast. I listen to Progressive Rock, Alternative Metal, Metalcore and Nu Metal but I also love Classical Music, Folk, Blues, Hip Hop and Pop.
My favourite genre in books and films are mainly thriller (action, psycho, political), dramas, sometimes romance and I currently dive into a lot of self help and health books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I camped in front of a grazing herd of over 50 ibexes in the Austrian Alps with a spectacular mountain view and an amazing sunset the whole evening, over night they slowly moved on. (we stayed in a safe distance)

Teach, Learn, Share

My native language is German and I definitely would love to teach it since I love educating, would say that I am good at explaining and can be patient. I also love learning languages so I’m happy to learn something new from a different language.
I am always open to participate in any kind of sport and physical activity and would like to teach yoga one day since I do know and are able to implement the important essentials and have skills and knowledge from my dance background.
I love exchanging with other people about music, movies and books - in general as well as giving and receiving some tips.
