About Me

Friends often tell me that I laugh way too often and too loud, but that isn't always a bad thing you know! :)

I love discovering this beautiful world that we live in, and meeting the many colourful characters that comes with it. I tend to get too comfortable in my comfort zone and I'd like to push myself to step out to explore different perspectives around the world. Tell me your story, I am happy to listen!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm afraid I can't be offering any couches at the moment but I hope someday when I get a place of my own I'd be able to do that because I love sharing wonderful food, places, and local cultures in Malaysia.

I feel that I can also enjoy a richer travelling experience by interacting with the locals and getting a glimpse of their everyday lives. I believe that the world would be a better place if people understood each other more and take the opportunity to see things from another perspective. For me, I'd like to take that step to learn, understand and embrace differences to better understand each other.

Interests

Music, books, culture, people and most of all, food!

As a child, I fell in love with the Japanese language and along the way, its culture has fascinated me until today which explains my regular trips to this beautiful country of Japan. I'm on a mission to explore all 47 prefectures in Japan ;D

I also enjoy taking photographs of everything around me but to be honest I'm not very good at it.

I love discovering new places and old buildings. I really like beautiful old buildings and quaint little places that have so many stories to tell. The road less taken, being closer to nature. Things like that, you know.

Did I also mention my love of food, and shopping for bargains? ;)

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly Japanese pop and rock like L'Arc~en~Ciel, MIYAVI, RADWIMPS & Arashi, local Malaysian acts like Yuna & Zee Avi, classical music specifically Debussy, soothing tunes by Norwegian folk-pop duo Kings of Convenience and old school favourites. Pretty much all sorts of good music!

I'm a total booknerd. I love children's classic literature by authors such as LM Montgomery, Frances H. Burnett, Susan Coolidge and the very occasional Jane Austen. Harry Potter too ♥ Haruki Murakami is also a favourite and I enjoy the occasional manga, though not as often as I used to anymore.

I don't have a favourite movie but I generally like light-hearted, fun movies with well-written characters. I particularly enjoy stop-motion animation and beautiful visuals in movies by Wes Anderson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Rather that something amazing that I've done, something that left a deep impression on me was stopping by Onagawa Town in Miyagi, Japan several years back. Looking around the bare lands around me and knowing that not too long ago it was a bustling town with hundreds of homes before the earthquake and tsunami struck back in 2011, that moment was both overwhelming and unforgettable.

That trip also my first time seeing, touching snow so it was a journey of many memorable firsts.
