Overview
About Me
Note: I will be traveling from July 2nd- Aug 18th this summer and will therefore be unavailable to host those days.
Hello,
My name is Nelly I am an elementary teacher in an arts school, who is also a travel enthusiast. I have an extra room with a cozy bed I'm more than willing to lend out to surfers who like to be a bit more independent (not looking for a 24/7 guide seeing as I’m at work Mon-Friday 7a-4p). That said, when I’m not at work, I’d love to show you around. I know some GREAT places to visit in the region and I will always take the time to a) give you advice on things to do and b) try my darnedest to make you feel at home.
CURRENT MISSION
To see where life will lead me next... I can't wait to find out!
ABOUT ME
I love to travel, go on adventures, explore places, people and cultures. I'm very open to anything and everything, and anyone, and I'm always interested in learning new things and a stimulating conversation. I've now traveled to 5 out of the 7 continents and this summer, I’ll add the 6th to my list (so excited!). I hope that I'll be able to have 7/7 soon.
PHILOSOPHY
Change is the only constant.
I believe that the universe and therefore me in it is in a constant state of flux. So instead of fearing, and running away from change, I've been trying to embrace it with open arms and seek out the adventures that change brings!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I've surfed in Canada and I've hosted a few too. I took a long break from CS because I was living with roommates who were not up to hosting. Now I'm eager to check out the international CS scene then come back and do some more hosting myself.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've now surfed on several couches across this great nation (Canada) and throughout some of Eastern Europe meeting some extraordinary people as I went. Despite the fact that I've been on here for years, I still consider myself to be rather new at this, so please be patient with me.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: too many to count, but some of my favs are Ever After, Mr. Hollands Opus, The Matrix, August Rush, Harry Potter, and Eat, Love, Pray.
Music: I like ALL music except techno... I just can't seem to listen to it for long or so without getting a headache or falling asleep. Lol.
Books: Anything with a good adventure into an imaginary world. ie. Harry Potter, Darkyn/ Kyndred, I also quite enjoy more thoughtful books like Eat, Love, Pray.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The most amazing (and most beautiful) thing I've seen in this world so far was in Thailand: It was 5am, my sister and I just got off the very long overnight boat ride and we were finally in KoPangang (not the right spelling, sorry -it the island where the full moon parties happen). Anyhow, as we exit the boat and find a taxi to take us to a place aptly called 'Mia Pen Ria' (Place of no worries) the sun starts creeping into the sky, but what I will never forget, and will always be my 'happy place' is watching the sunrise over the crystal clear water in the tiny lagoon where this hostel was, as we climbed up to our 'private' cabin perched ever so precicely on the face of a cliff. If that wasn't great enough, we stayed there in this paridise of a place for the equivilant of a mere $2 a night!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a pretty good knowledge of France and Europe in general and a darn good knowledge of Canada especially French culture in Canada, Ontario, BC and Qubec. I've spent a good part of my life as a student leader, so I love talking, teaching, learning and sharing anything about leadership, residence and university in general. Now that I teach, I'm also always open to discussions about education (the good, the bad and the ugly). I also play the trumpet and the guitar and could teach you how to play if you're interested.
