About Me

Namaste! I'm Nagendra Singh, a geospatial professional and Head of Geospatial at a space-tech startup in India. My work involves understanding our planet from a unique, data-driven perspective, and now I'm excited to experience it firsthand, on the ground!

Beyond the world of maps and satellites, I'm a passionate traveler drawn to the heart and soul of a place. For me, travel isn't just about seeing famous landmarks; it's about connecting with the people who call a place home.

I'm keen to learn about local customs, hidden gems, and the stories that aren't found in guidebooks. Whether it's sharing a meal, exploring a neighborhood, or simply having a conversation about life, I'm open to authentic interactions.

My favorite countries include Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Estonia, Norway, Netherlands, Spain, France, Portugal and few others– a diverse mix of cultures and landscapes that I'm eager to explore. I'm planning a 15-day trip soon and another longer one in a few months, hoping to connect with welcoming hosts along the way.

I'm a respectful and considerate guest, eager to learn and share. If you're someone who enjoys sharing your local insights and connecting with curious travelers, I'd love to hear from you!

Looking forward to experiencing your corner of the world!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I genuinely want to understand how locals experience their cities, how their lives are intertwined with the surrounding landscapes, and perhaps even share some perspectives on our Earth from a broader viewpoint.

As I embark on my first international trip to , I didn’t just want to be a visitor — I wanted to experience the city through the eyes of those who live it.

Couchsurfing isn’t just about a free place to sleep — it’s about sharing stories, cultures, meals, and perspectives. I believe in the power of global community, and staying with locals feels like the most authentic way to connect with a place.

Plus, as someone working to transform India’s GIS and remote sensing landscape, I’m always looking to learn how people in other parts of the world view the Earth, map it, and care for it.

So if you're hosting me — know that I bring not just curiosity and gratitude, but also stories from India’s geospatial journey and a passion for the planet we all share.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy thriller, horror, and action films, and while I have watched all the Marvel movies, I wouldn't consider myself a big fan of the franchise. I'm a huge admirer of Tom Cruise and particularly enjoy his Mission: Impossible series. Psychological thrillers are among my favorite genres (Such as Bates Motel). I also love reading thriller and romantic novels. When it comes to music, I’m drawn to songs with meaningful lyrics and emotional depth.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I’ve done is initiate a nationwide collaborative project called “30 Minutes a Day to Transform India’s GIS Landscape.” The goal is to crowdsource and create open-source geospatial datasets for India by encouraging students, freelancers, and professionals to contribute just 30 minutes a day. It's a step toward bridging critical data gaps in the country’s geospatial infrastructure, and it brings together people from diverse backgrounds to work on something meaningful, educational, and impactful.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I love teaching concepts related to Geospatial Technology, especially GIS, Remote Sensing, and Spatial Data Analysis. I’ve mentored students and professionals through structured guidance, real-world projects, and hands-on tools, making complex topics simple and actionable.

Learn: I’m always eager to learn—whether it’s new programming languages like Python or JavaScript for spatial analysis, or emerging trends in AI-driven geospatial solutions. Continuous learning keeps me curious, adaptable, and innovative.

Share: I believe knowledge grows when shared. That’s why I actively share insights, tutorials, and open data resources through community initiatives, social media, and educational platforms. Helping others grow and solve real problems through knowledge is something I deeply value.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share engaging conversations about geospatial technology, maps, and how data is shaping our world. I love cooking and would be happy to share traditional Indian dishes or drinks, especially those unique to different states. I also enjoy storytelling, whether it's about travel, culture, or life experiences, and I'm always up for exchanging music and book recommendations. Most importantly, I bring a respectful, positive attitude and a genuine curiosity to learn from and connect with people from different walks of life.
