About Me

Me and my husband Umut, we just moved to Berlin and trying to settle in.... after a long trip by bicycle through Europe in winter up till Turkey.

PHILOSOPHY of Justina and partly Umut (he has his own profile of course :))
"c'est la vie et la vie est belle": I try to live this in, I try to appreciate every moment of my life, even if the life becomes so difficult. It is what I try to reach :)))
Indeed, I am more one of those that has many whys in their heads instead of just enjoying the life as it is.
But I have found Ayurveda and with Meditation/Zen/Still being I am learning to discover the joy of being here and now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm surfing on my life, and CS brought me the best waves!

Interests

Life from all it's possible aspects: as natural as it can be. I can't get enough of new things, I'm always curious what's happening around me. SO, I read, I write, I take photos, I sing and I listen. I run, I shout, I dance. I travel.
Nowadays I am getting more and more interested of what is happening inside me too, not just around. It came with Ayurveda that I am learning little by little and an so I am rediscovering myself. Therefore I meditate, I do yoga, I cook and bake with spices, I take care what I eat and how does that make me feel.

My most current interest is long-term biking, like making a 1 YEAR Bike Tour!

Music, Movies, and Books

--- Movies ---
--- Umut is a meloman and from my perspective watches everything. I rather enjoy free, crazy style of movies that talk about dreams, psychology, choices... all about different perspectives, approaches. So it's more french style movies with arisen questions and no ends :) And I appreciate good cinematography, the play with lights and colors and good music.
And I also like good detective movies and TV series as Sherlock or Home.
Some movies that make my mind busy:
-The science of Dreams,
-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind by Michael Gondry
-Inception by Christopher Nolan
-Fight Club by David Fincher
-Gainsbourg:la vie heroique by Joann Sfar
-La phantome de la liberte by Luis Bunuel
-La Grande Bouffe..
-Hamlet by Michael Almereyda
-V for Vendetta by James McTeigue
-Half Moon, Noone knows about Persian Cats by Bahman Ghobadi
-Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi

--- Music ---
Depends on a mood, but jazz, nu jazz or bossa nova is something we listen often. Also old good rock and popular like Queen, The Beatles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin or Depech Mode. Oldies as Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Astrud Gilberto is lovely.
From nowadays Moby , Brazaville, Beirut, Gotan Project, Tribalistas, St Germain, Feist, Manu Chao, Los Rodrigues.

Good Lithuanian music I would recomend to check if you interested: Foje, Antis, Vytautas Kernagis, Hiperbole, Jurga, Jazzu, Skyle and Aiste Smilgeviciute.
I like folk music as well. The best way to feel it: sing it!!!

--- Books ---

I used to read a lot at highshcool.. I am very sad I find less and less time to take a science-fiction book, but I keep on reading.
I was and I am still impressed by H.Hesse, W.Gothe, A.Barrico, U.Eco. I can't stop rethinking and quoting A.Camus. I like scandinavian literature and their style and there are a couple of books, that can't fall out of my head Peter Hoeg with "Smilla's Sense of Snow" and Herbjorg Wassmo with "Dina's book". As well, I find close the sarcasm of K.Vonnegut, and the thoughts of J.Irving.
I constantly read "The Prophet" by K.Dzibran when it's too dark in my mind and I highly recommend to check it.
I recently found Czeslaw Milosz and I can't get enough of him! The simplicity and beauty of language, the cultural background.
Now back to H. Hesse in German Language(!) That is what I call the challenge :D
If you have any recommendations I would be glad to hear!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With my husband we went on cycling trip for a honey year starting in winter from the Netherlands till Turkey, from where we hitch-hiked and took buses all the way to Iran.

"Swimming in a lake in winter (-20) (but after the Finnish sauna of course :)" - was written from the day I created a profile.
Now, I would say, that every moment can be amazing if you make yourself feeling that!

Well, HitchHiking alone - people find amazing, but that's just for fun when I feel I want to.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love learning. I'd like to LEARN more languages as it is a magic of brains! I like to LEARN to listen better and to hear. I have found Allan Watts and I was learning from him. Now I am learning Ayurveda.
I can TEACH Lithuanian folklore, TEACH how to live in harmony with nature, how to garden, how to live healthy. But it would be more like discussions, so not sure if that would be more teaching or learning :)
I can SHARE my criticism :D Although it depends with whom, but I can always share my tent, my food, spare time, books or experience..

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you come on the weekend I am glad to share my pancakes/crepes I make for the breakfast ;)
