About Me

CURRENT MISSION

carpe diem

ABOUT ME

I am moving into a teaching career after working in the non-profit sector for 3 years. Originally from the US, I moved to Spain, and then to South Africa, where I have been volunteering in KZN for two years. I am now starting my graduate degree in education.

In my spare time I'm cruising through town on my bike, exploring my new corner of the globe, dancing, or doing yoga by candle light.

PHILOSOPHY

Some of my favorite quotes:

For what its worth, its never to late... to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, start whenever you want. You can change, or stay the same; there are no rules to this thing.
We can make the best or the worst of it; I hope you make the best of it. I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life your proud of. If you find that your not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.
Benjamin Button

"Today no people can look to their own traditions alone for this kind of learning and understanding... Now the time has come for us to extend and expand the discourse, as a dialogue with the past, with other cultures, and even with future generations, who cannot speak for themselves but whose fate is in our hands." - William Theodore De Barry

‎"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."-Soren Kierkegaard

Aut viam inveniam aut faciam
I will either find a way, or make one.
Hannibal

"This world is like sugar. It can crumble in your hands, but never be afraid to stick out your tong and taste it." Sarah Kay

Nothing worth doing is completed in our lifetime,
Therefore, we are saved by hope.
Nothing true or beautiful or good makes complete sense in any immediate context of history;
Therefore, we are saved by faith.
Nothing we do, however virtuous, can be accomplished alone.
Therefore, we are saved by love.
No virtuous act is quite a virtuous from the standpoint of our friend or foe as from our own;
Therefore, we are saved by the final form of love which is forgiveness.
- Reinhold Niebuhr

"Your time is limited, so don't wast it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other people's opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart & intuition - they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary." - Steve Jobs
