About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to find out what makes other people's eyes twinkle
ABOUT ME
there are a few things that make my eyes twinkle: sports, traveling, and stimulating conversations. there is only one team that has my undying loyalty, and that is the Kentucky Wildcats. every other ballgame is about the game, the experience, the culture, the atmosphere, not the team.
that's much the same when i travel...it's not the touristy sites, it's the getting there, the nuances, the hidden gems, the people and their stories, the moments that go completely wrong and make you laugh so hard when you remember them that you fall backward out of your chair. that's what draws me to CS. it creates a wide open mystery just waiting to be explored.
PHILOSOPHY
I believe I have something in common with everyone in the world and while those commonalities are fun to discover, I'd rather figure out what we don't have in common, something you know that I don't, and develop an appreciation and understanding for it. It goes along with that old saying that everyone has a story, and the journalist in me is always fascinated to hear each person's.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i've met some CSers along my various travels and now that i have my own place, i'm ready to open my doors!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
met up with some CSers when I was living in Champaign and we had a great time. Also made some friends in DC and ended up taking a brief roadtrip to Baltimore with them for a soccer match, which was INCREDIBLE! It makes me smile to think about the cohesiveness of randomness.
Interests
playing intramural football, dancing, spontaneous conversations on airplanes, street corners and benches in various cities, camping, fishing, philosophical discussions, going to baseball games, mapping out roadtrips for ballgames, Kentucky basketball and football, reading, Titans football games, people watching, my nephews, Illinois soccer, keeping a journal, any place with a fabulous view...usually of the mountains

Music, Movies, and Books
EAT. PRAY. LOVE. definiely a must-read. The Alchemist and The Awakening are also favs. But I enjoy a good mystery any day. Recently read Christine Brennan's "Best Seat in the House" and really related to it
I'll listen to anything, but let's face it, I'm a country girl at heart. My fav band is Sister Hazel and I think acoustic music is best live, whether it's a pro or an amateur jamming.
Top Gun and Remember the Titans are tops on my list of favs. I love movies where I have to figure something out, like Along Came a Spider, but do not ask me to see a horror flick!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
aside from visiting Macchu Picchu, which was obviously breathtaking...my most amazing experiences have been sports related (shocker eh?): the Music City Miracle (just google it), a game-saving block on a PK that propelled my soccer team to the NCAA Sweet 16, UK demolishing #1 Florida at Rupp, my softball team beating the #10 team in the nation twice, each with a walk-off homer, and that miraculous TD catch to win the flag football championship
Teach, Learn, Share
life is boring without learning. the classroom and books are great, but people and experiences are priceless. i'm really a sports nut, so if you ever want to learn how to score a baseball game, i've got ya covered!
Countries I’ve Visited
