About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To experience as much as I can during a single lifetime. Preferably the pleasant stuff first.
ABOUT ME
I am bland, boring and mean-spirited. I like to do nothing, and when people convince me to do something, I do it grudgingly and try to spoil it for everyone else.
I especially dislike long conversations about language, grammar and etymology, logic and computer science. I try to lengthen their torment as much as possible both for me and for my torturer/interlocutor.
When I am feeling especially nasty, I allow people to convince me to play board games, which I promptly make insufferable by playing with no plan whatsoever, always winning by blind luck. I have driven many serious boardgamers to pluck their eyes out this way. I have kept many of them as trophies.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted twice and been hosted twice. I loved it every time.
Interests
I am interested in the bland and boring nothingness of day to day activities. I occasionally take breaks to play board games with other carbon-based lifeforms (the one and only time I played Twilight Imperium with sloths has probably taken up the largest part of my life), listen to and play music (especially singer-songwriter stuff and some medieval or folk), debate without necessarily having a specific purpose, and practise on foreign English accents.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite bands are random and totally unrelated to each other. I mostly listen to metal, for example Madder Mortem and Sun of Nothing, but I have also obsessed on Regina Spektor, Tiger Lillies, Rolo Tomassi, Tom Lehrer, Krysztof Penderecki and Dead Can Dance at various times. I am seeking music that is depressing, gloomy, or sweet (but depressing on a deeper level). Did I mention depressing?
Books: Haven't read much. Read Moby Dick (and loved it), Atlas Shrugged (and survived), everything by Patrick Süskind, some Chuck Palahniuk, a lot of J.R.R. Tolkien, most books by Guy Gavriel Kay, some Lenos Christides, Agatha Christie, Robert E. Howard, all five books in the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy trilogy (except for the final 90 pages of the final book - long story), a bit of Discworld and the Bible - just kidding!
Actually I only ever read comics, including Asterix, Lucky Luke, Iznogood, Oompa-pah, Corto Maltese, everything by Don Rosa, most Carl Barks stories.
The truth is I haven't even read those, my mother bought them ages ago, I've only read some webcomics, xkcd, Gone with the Blastwave, PhD, and the Perry Bible Fellowship.
I also used to devour every word coming out of Socar Myles' keyboard. Now I casually obsess about her every now and then.
I honestly don't know what to write about movies, there are so many out there that all that comes to mind is the last one I watched (Conversations with other women) and Monty Python's Holy Grail. I could also mention White Oleander, Dogtooth and more, but I'd be cheating because I had to search through stuff I have posted around to remember them. Instead I will list some tv series that have left me dumbfounded: The Wire (intentionally on the top of the list), The Sopranos, Rubicon, Six Feet Under, Green Wing, The Office and lately, Oz and Treme.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I flew.
No, seriously, paragliding.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can always teach you a bit (pun intended) about programming and the programming mindset. I can also share a million movie trivia, there hasn't been one movie I've seen without reading trivia about it.
As for learning, I'd very much like to learn medieval and eastern traditional percussion. I already have a frame drum! If you know nothing about percussion, but have an instrument available, I could probably teach you the basic technique.
I can probably teach you some Swedish.
