Über mich
CURRENT MISSION
I want to discover a personal objective to continued existence, and drink many good beers and coffee while expanding my reading list to include more metafiction.
Update: There is no purpose to life, so Do What Thou Wilt. Beer and coffee and metafiction are consumed still in this newfound land.
ABOUT ME
Intense, friendly, and convicted, with rules of behavior and personal morals that strike some as unprincipled and frustrating. I am okay with inequality. I don't know what "systemic injustice" means, except power gone corrupt or feeble. Lions and sheep: nature persists.
I believe that I am good company until social panic sets in and I have to jet from a scene to be alone.
Caveat when requesting - don't ask me for a couch, then never reply to my messages offering it. I don't care how many offers you have to respond to. If you ask me, and I give you a reply, taking time out of my day to "think" about the guest, then I expect a prompt reply unless you've indicated you're not near a computer. Don't say you have an "emergency" and need a host, then never reply when I say "sure come by" and you asked at a late time and that prompts me to maybe stay up later than I'd otherwise wish checking the comp for a reply to let you in.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I host and I surf.
I am friendly to surfers and hosts.
I believe in missions to visit places, not happy-go-lucky trips across the States with your friend or lover. I don't care if you just want to see a particular piece of architecture: have some aim when coming. Know the space you want to be in, or have conduct you must finish there.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Why stop at one?
In the most expensive city in America, San Francisco, I watched a Mexican fellow run by me putting a gun into the belt of his trousers, his trench coat billowing open, bowler hat secured firmly over his bald head. I ignored it and went into the bar he had run out of and had some drinks with my friend and a guide I'd met at another bar (we ended up drinking with this guy all night and wandered into all kinds of bars). After we left the bar, that guy I had seen earlier started shooting about two feet from me across the street. There may have been return fire, but the two guys and I just hunkered down by a newspaper machine and waited it out, as there wasn't much else to do. We kept on drinking that night. Fun town.
I have concluded that most government centers of cities are havens of the homeless, a civics-property relationship I have yet to completely understand. Austin bums prowl under the shadow of our pink bulb overseeing Congress. In Madison, the bums clump together in violent rabble on State Street; every night one of them sounds like he is dragging a sign across the concrete, and morosely lurk on bus stops hollering at each other when not hitting up college white girls for cash. It is an interesting scene. San Francisco's government is located smack dab in the poorest part of town, and as I got off the train looking for my hotel in the area, it was the first time I saw human shit carefully deposited on the sidewalk, a likely culprit skulking nearby against a wall.
****
I climbed Enchanted Rock out near Fredericksburg. Beautiful scenery, like a fairy-populated Jurassic Park, pregnant with possibility, or echoes of something massive that had long ago moved on.
I remember a night when these Norwegian babes were in town and we had left a gay club at the end of the night and were walking their sultry forms back to the hotel. My friend and I saw a fellow standing outside the hotel, within eyeshot of Austin's worst, and my friend began to talk to him because it appeared he had been in tensions with a group of nearby males. I walked back my buddy to see what was going on because he was drunk as hell and is very aggressive, and I saw in the other fellow's hands a nice, sharp knife. Unworried, we conversed with him while he held his knife out near our stomachs, unthreatening and friendly. He was a very nice guy, his heart set on a woman out West, his anger against his accosters dissipating, but he let us know he did not care if he went to jail or not for stabbing them. By the time we were done, he had pocketed the knife, the Norwegian honeys had nestled into their hotel rooms, and the cops didn't ever come bother a bunch of guys standing around with knives out.

This isn't a reacharound. Ask questions or ignore me and let me do my thing. There's all kinds of way of "doing" CouchSurfing.
