About Me

I'm a student, writer, unrepentent bibliophile, and world-traveler.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe in exploring the globe in ways that let me meet other people, so I hitchhike, stay in hostels, and couchsurf.

It's far too easy to travel the world and not make any friends, but that's boring.

Interests

Travel, Books, Hiking, Backpacking, Mountaineering, Hitchhiking, Weightlifting, Poetry, Meditation, Parkour, good Scotch, Philosophy, Post-Leftist political theory, any place I haven't been, meeting people, learning languages.

I spend a lot of time outdoors, especially hiking. I've hiked many times in the cascades (while I lived in Oregon), and Snowdonia (while I am living in Wales). Someday I want to do the Pacific Crest Trail and hike from Mexico to Canada.

I like wandering around old cities and seeing what they have to offer. Museums, cathedrals, castles, markets--I love them all.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Indie Folk, Indie Rock, Alternative Country, Traditional Irish, American Folk, Irish Punk, Post-Punk...

Movies: Anything by Wes Anderson.

A few of my favorite books: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Elegance of the Hedgehog, Anything by William Blake, The Great Gatsby, Sherlock Holmes, Anything by Poe, The Name of the Wind, Anna Karenina, The Road, The Beautiful and the Damned, Siddhartha ...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hitchhiked across Germany (Bremen to Berchtesgaden and on to Salzburg). I met tons of people and had a bunch of fun! I visited Munich, slept in a farmer's field, walked through the Alps!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English, and I am interested in improving my Spanish.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook pretty well, or at least that's what people tell me. I make a lot of stews.

I have cool stories to share and am a pretty decent conversationalist.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, England, Estonia, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Morocco, Scotland, Spain, United States, Wales
