About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To lose a bit of my mind and fall into my heart. To travel and explore the world one continent at a time.

ABOUT ME

Hmm...how to describe myself...I guess I tend to lean towards a more creative form of self expression. I thrive on challenging myself whether it be through adventure or just the everyday, little things. I am very spontaneous and love traveling. The call of the wild is something I can't ignore and I spend a significant amount of time in the great outdoors.

I love living a classic, nomadic existence. Simplicity is something I enjoy in life.

PHILOSOPHY

"You must leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. What you discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover is yourself."-Alan Alda

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've surfed some amazing couches and have met incredible people time and again. A few years ago I decided to embark on a moneyless cycling trip from Alaska to California. During those 6 months I was on the road I had the pleasure of couchsurfing with many different hosts, all down the west coast. Their endless generosity and hospitality never ceased to amaze me and I found myself getting more and more excited about returning home so I could begin hosting!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed many couches over the last few years and have met some of the most inspirational people, including a few of my closest friends. There is absolutely no better way to get a local's perspective while traveling, than to couchsurf! Cheers to all the incredible people and amazing places I've seen during my travels!

Interests

I love eating well and take pride in trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I do my best to eat locally when I can and like to know where my food comes from.
I love music and play guitar. There is rarely a time when I'm traveling that I don't have a guitar in tow.
I'm a pretty active gal and so if there's a game of frizbee or any sport really, I'm in.
I'm also beginning to look at adopting more of a freeconomic lifestyle, and have been dumpster diving and putting to use the network freecycle. What is one person's trash may be another's treasure. Let's quit wasting so much! It is going to take a huge collective effort to change our world for the better so why not start with my own life?!

Music, Movies, and Books

It's too difficult to narrow it down to one so here's a few top movies:
Good Will Hunting
The Birdcage
The Count of Monte Cristo
Defiance

Top books:
Way of the Peaceful Warrior, by Dan Millman
Ringing Cedar Series: Book 1 Anastasia, Vladimir Megre
The Red Tent
Eating Dirt- Charlotte Gill
The Prophet, Khalil Gibran
The Moneyless Man, Mark Boyle

Fave. Music:
Hands down Joni Mitchell. I also love James Taylor, Neil Young,Cat Stevens, Steve Brockley, Jurassic 5, The Pharcyde,Laura Marling, Rising Appalacia, Shakey Graves, Fleetwood Mac, Railroad Earth, Grateful Dead, Gillian Welch, John Prine, Paul Simon, Otis Redding, Old Crow Medicine Show, Toots and the Maytals, Fat Freddy's Drop, Os Novos Baianos and a lot of other artists. My musical tastes are vast and ever changing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In the fall of 2011 I decided to embark on a solo, moneyless cycling trip from Alaska to California without much of a plan or a dollar to my name. The only thing I left with was my unwavering faith in humanity and my strong, rooted intuition. I met the most incredible, kind, generous people I could only have dreamed of meeting. The experience changed me in so many amazing ways. It was such a humbling experience and I am so grateful for it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching people anything that I know and they wish to learn. Particularly, I love teaching outdoorsy skills... Wilderness survival, shelter building etc. I just finished a two year adventure guide diploma and have since realized I love teaching canoeing, kayaking, rafting...anything that pretty much has to do with water. I can also teach some simple guitar tunes and share my love of middle-eastern cuisine. I can guarantee my Hummus recipe will not disappoint:)

I want to learn how to be self reliant and live sustainably within a community and obtain what I need to live an exceptionally fulfilling and joyful life. I want to learn how to grow my own food, build my own house and work together with people to recreate a life that is harmonious and no longer estranged from the grand web of life and all lifecycles. Show me a new way!
