Hi I'm Naomi. I was born in Italy but raised in Florida by an Italian father and a Jamaican-American mother. I've moved cities 9 times and countries 3 times in the past 10 years.

I graduated in the Agricultural sciences ... I'm a huge travel and food enthusiast aspiring to be the female Anthony Bourdain in my third career and a revolutionary AgTech prodigy in my second. Right now I am selling my soul to tech so I can buy a farm :)

My energy/vibe is quite mellow. I enjoy textures and sounds of natural things (like Amélie). I can watch animals for hours or listen to flowing water for hours. I have spurts of energy especially when there is beautiful music + heavy bass (my favorite electronic music is jungltrônica) and I will dance like a weirdo without even being on substances.

My goals in life are relatively simple: experiences over material things for the most part (I'd like a cute home on a cute farm one day, and maybe a sail boat, and a donkey), sharing my perspective with people and innovating new things to help others in unfortunate circumstances. I'm working more so towards being happier the way I'd like to spend my time vs. what I get in return for my time. Which I think is the case for many people on CS and that makes me happy.

I previously wanted to have a career in international development and work for the FAO or some big organization where I can help people and their livelihoods. However, after 10 difficult weeks trying to carry out an animal feed project in Ethiopia, I am developing technical skills to help farmers have tools to make their lives easier.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm very aware the world is my oyster now, I just have to spend some time adulting to have the freedom to do enjoy the oyster. I love having the Couchsurfing community as one I can rely on while I am out gallivanting the world and I want to provide the kindred spirits of CS with the same.

I was an exchange student to Brazil in high school and it was the most enriching experience of my youth that set my life on a completely new trajectory. Couchsurfing allows me to do the same on a smaller scale and it's a beautiful thing B)

Interests

I want to be a part of the adoption of insects as a food source for western populations. Most of my interests are based in ecological/sustainability topics.
For fun, I like to cook and eat high quality foods, sip high quality beverages, dance, go hiking, do yoga, biking, swimming, laugh at funny things, and pet animals. Not so complicated! :)

I do like to learn something from my guests if possible. If I feel like you are an interesting and curious person with common sense, I am open to hosting you. I know Couchsurfing is great for budget travel, but I also don't want to be your alternative for a hotel. That's not what couchsurfing is for, sorry y'all.
