About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To rediscover life out of the Rat Race

ABOUT ME

I'm Anais, I'm often found day-dreaming about life and its possibilities.
I have been living as a support worker for people with learning disabilities for the last 2 years, but for the last 9 months I've been planning the trip of a lifetime with my boyfriend, Elliot.
We decided the British lifestyle was not something we were ready to dive into and we felt ready to start exploring the rest of the World.
After a few months and a couple of slip-ups, we've found the path we want to follow and that path has lead us to South East Asia on a one way ticket...
This journey will take us through Thailand and Laos, then we hope to find a base in Hanoi where we will teach English.
We're really looking forward to immersing ourselves in the cultures and local way of life, connecting with Buddhist teachings and sharing smiles and stories with everyone we meet.

PHILOSOPHY

"true knowledge exists in knowing that you know nothing"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We want to learn first hand about other cultures and ways of life. We are all connected, everyone to everyone, everything to every thing and we want to play our part in the rich tapestry of life.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have hosted a number of couch surfers from around Europe and had a great time showing them around Newcastle and cooking up a Sunday lunch and hearing their travel tales. I also met up with another in Bali.

Interests

I'm looking forward to reconnecting with the Earth through volunteering, and with my spirituality through Buddhism and meditation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love to listen to Minimal House (Bonobo, Yonderboi) Acoustic, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Psytrance, Garage, folk music from all over the world, especially stuff with lots of drums, as long as it has a good beat I don't mind!

Films: Waking Life, V for Vendetta, THX 1138, Amelie, various documentary films

Recently I've been reading up on spirituality around the World, Supernature, 1984 and books by Eckhart Tolle

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In Bali, after passing Mount Batur volcano on the way to Lake Bratan. We drove through clouds on the motorbike, twisting and turning though many trees, it was so cold. All of a sudden the trees disappeared, and a vast array of rice fields and valleys arose,it was the greenest green I have ever seen and the sky so blue! i could see all the way to Mount Agung which was 40 miles away. I will keep that image with me forever.

France, Greece, Indonesia, Ireland, Maldives, Thailand
