CURRENT MISSION

Live and Love.

ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Женя (or Gene, or Genio, or Eugen, etc.). I'm from Minsk, currently a student living in Bergen.

-------------- In several words --------------

I'm very romantic.

-------------- More about me --------------

I'm from Belarus. I lived most of my life in Minsk, and I like the city very much. Since 2011 I live in Norway. I'm not a conventional lifestyle person.

I like travelling, music, walks, talks, juggling, programming, dancing, comics and a lot of other things.

I aspire to be open-hearted and open-minded. I prefer non-violence and tolerance in all aspects of my life.

I plan to be a scientist in a near future. In a not-so-near future I plan to be an artist (mostly music related), and later, to be a school teacher.

In my spare time I like to study different things and create something, to improve my life and inspire others. I like to spend time with people I like, and sometimes I spend my time alone and work, without much communicating.

I consider music as my main hobby and interest, though my development is very slow most of the time. Anyway, I plan to create a lot of musical works. So I'm looking forward to meet collaborators, teachers and inspiration!
The same is about programming, science, time-management and personal information management, daily life optimization, arts in general. I'm ready to collaborate. If you're a scientist, researcher, creator, you're welcome to work together.

-------------- Even more about me --------------

What else should I write here? I don't know. Oh yes, I'm a bad writer. That is important! So it was not easy for me to write all this information and references. I'm not very satisfied with what I wrote here, but it's better than before and than nothing, and it put a lot of effort in it.
And I'm very shy, I consider this as my biggest problem in my life. But I try to work hard on this problem, so it's sometimes even unnoticeable. But it is still the biggest problem I have in social life. Even more generally, I have an inferiority complex, that feeds my shyness, anxiety, social phobia and other related issues. But at the same time I have a great passion for greater life and adventures, which motivates me to leave my comfort zone (or lazy zone) and work on myself. This is why I have quite rich social life right now, a lot of great experience, and great friends.

As a continuation of my personality information, I can add that I'm mostly introvert, so I'm into thinking and dreaming, and into calm parties with few people I know than huge parties with lots of people I don't know. I prefer deep, close and long relationships with people, and in general.

What else should I write? Ready for suggestions.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I did surfing and hosting even before, without any internet sites. Last years I do with this site as well.

I had both surfing, hosting and meeting experiences. Quite positive so far. Sometimes it is just marvellous and awesome, sometimes exhausting for my introvert personality.

Interests

I like to have a lot of hobbies. In short, I like adventures, exploring and art.

Music, juggling, programming, traveling, smiling, laughing, dancing and a lot of other things!
I like to make musical albums and I want to make films. I like to paint and draw, languages and origami.
I like computer games very much, especially rogue-like games and old games of 80-s and 90-s but I play them very little last years. Though, I almost don't play games during last 5 years.
Like so much juggling conventions, demoscene parties, music festivals and rainbow gatherings!
I like to listen and play music, solve interesting and practical problems, time management, mathematics, biology, algorithms, programming, bioinformatics, juggling, dancing, reading comics, travel, cook, play games and computer games, swings, oh, so many things... I gave up writing now, but I'll add more later.

I'm ready to learn new things, discover new activities, be inspired by new ideas.
How I spend my time these days? It depends. Usually several activities are in rise, while other are on hold, and this is for several days, weeks, or months for each activity. Right now I'm in a trip to Stavanger through Oslo, and this summer I will work and explore the city. For last three months I was very social and travelled a lot, while studying quite much as well, and not more other activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

==== Music

I like music in general, this is important part of my life and my greatest passion.
I can express my attitude to music as "Every sound is a music". I try to enjoy sound around me, try to like new styles and instruments. I have my own taste, but my intention is to find something good in music I don't yet like, not to deny it or escape it.
My most favourite instruments so far are sitar, tabla, harp, hammered dulcimer, zither, jew's harp, didjeridoo, bells, wind chimes, oboe, different flutes, singing bowls, human body sounds (claps, vocals, whistle, lots of other funny sounds you can make just with yourself).
I try to learn and play instruments, but so far I'm on advanced level only in playing jew's harp (I have 15 of them).
In terms of music styles, techniques, traditions I have quite broad range of things I like and listen often so far. I like field recordings (of course), spiritual music, free improvisations, long and complicated instrumentals, solo on one instrument, experimental music, tracked music, live music, indian classical music. But I also like just nice melodies, noise, metal, pop, rock, classical music and lots of other styles.
My most favourite artists are Mike Oldfield, Stephan Micus, Plazma, I like almost everything they make. Among other favourite artists there are Ramio Lin, Summoning, The Alan Parsons Project, Alconost, Mithotyn, Мор, ночные грузчики, Линда, No Mode, Muslimgauze, Aphex Twin, 3clicksphilip, Хортица, Солнечный Сахалин, Ocean Light Space, Три панды и луна, Neeela, Акваланг, Bal-Sagoth, Napalm Death, 7Б, Gods Tower, (I'll add more here).

I play music more and more often, as well as try to learn software like trackers or sequencers and processing programming languages, as well as sound and music theory. But what I definitely do much is listening to music almost every day almost all time.
And I like to make music albums!
I played music in bands "Ocean Light Space", "Neeela", "Three pandas and the moon", and with Minsk Magic Orchestra and lots of other people.

===== Books

I like to read books. I read a lot of books in my childhood, but now I read much less because I do a lot of other things. Now I read mostly articles in Internet and books from which I can study something, like popular science books, manuals and instructions, encyclopedia articles.
I like fiction with adventures and fairy stuff, so I like fairy tales, legends and myths, science fiction, fantasy, and related genres. One of my favourite books is "Hobbit" by Tolkien, and other one is "Foundation" by Asimov.
I like autobiographies very much.
I'm quite bad at writing, but lately I write a lot of notes, diary and have lots of conversations, and I like to write, despite all the difficulties.
I almost don't read poetry (except for songs) and rarely write it.

Another great thing is comics, I love it. I think it is the greatest combination of literature and visual art, and I plan to read more and more comics in the future and explore this great type of art. I like especially eastern stuff, and my favourite manga so far is "Golden boy".

===== Films

I used to watch films that were shown on TV in my childhood, not often in cinema. But from the age of 21 I started to watch more and more films from wider range of styles. Now I consider myself as an advanced film lover. My favourite film creator so far is Jackie Chan, I love choreography in his films of 70s and 80s. Among the greatest films I've seen there are "Seven Samurai" and "12 Angry Men". There are lots of other films I like very much, I will write them later.

I would love to make films some day, now I just make videos sometimes and write ideas...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen sunrise a lot of times, and every time it is amazing :)

I can juggle now with 5 balls, and play music with my friends on the streets and in home. I have a lot of great friends now and it is really amazingly great!

I travel more now and have visited juggling conventions, rainbow gatherings, demoparties, music festivals, different cities and was involved in different activities.

The view from my kitchen window in Minsk and view of mountains from Molde. Hurtigruten cruise and hiking in Norway and other places.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm interested in learning and sharing in general! Especially to learn and share something that makes happy!

I can offer you my company, first of all, and a company of my friends. I'm usually involved in a lot of different activities, so it won't be boring.
I'm also a great music listener, so you can discover a lot of great music.
We can eat and cook together, free and diverse food, cooked by me and my friends.
I also like to teach juggling, so you're welcome. I have balls and other juggling equipment. It's not hard and takes an hour or two to learn to juggle 3 balls. We can juggle together, and this is real fun! ;)
Sometimes I play music concerts (usually on jew's harp) on stairs, you can listen to me and join. I also like to make music albums, so we can collaborate and make one (or more) together.
I can definitely walk with you in the city and tell what I know about things there, though I may know not very much.
I like to dance, swim, walk, cycle, hike, do yoga, swings, active games (beach volleyball, jollyball, football, Frisbee and other stuff). You can join me for any of them.
I also like to talk about life, love, music and arts, science. Totally happy to have such a conversation.
I like hand-made art, like painting, origami, paper artwork, making something from things that I have, though I'm not professional, I just enjoy the process.
I like programming and demoscene and I'm a professional programmer, so I'm always glad to talk about programming and any computer related stuff.
I'm also interested in developing better way of everyday life, so sharing thoughts, knowledge and experience about health, housework optimization, time management, information management, computer work optimization is greatly welcomed!

I like to do something outstanding and exceptional, nice jokes and fun, especially in a good company of other crazy strange people, so if you are weird too we'll rock together!
We can figure out other stuff as well. I'm open to new interesting thing to do and happy to find new friends.

And a lot of other skills and knowledge that I can share and want to learn :)
