About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I was younger, I thought travelling was equivalent to sightseeing. You just go abroad with your family or friend/-s to see some well-known places, take selfies and that's all. But every time I travelled like this, I realized that such sightseeing tourism didn't leave any lasting impression on me.
After that I completely revisited the concept of "travelling" for myself - it should be about people first, not about places. Meeting local people is the most precious experince during all journeys! Historical and cultural sites wil neither tell you vivid and breathtaking stories of life, nor help you experience the way locals live. So that's why here I am :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: songs or melodies which have a strong connection with some events or periods in my life are my most favourite. I'd be happy to tell you about such "music stages of my life" if you are curious to know.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Movies: Star Wars, Interstellar - i'm not getting tired to watch them over and over again. Besides, I love some of Guillermo del Toro's films.
TV series: Game of Thrones, the Handmaid's Tale, Big Little Lies, Black Mirror, the House of Cards, Mr. Robot.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Books: I used to be an experienced bookworm once but studying at the university absorbs much time and physical resources that's why I only read one book in a month currently.
The books that impressed me the most are Orwell "1984" and "Animal Farm", Huxley "Brave New World", Zamyatin "We", Ayn Rand "Atlas Shrugged", John Fawles "The Magus" and "The Collectioner"

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to discover unusual bars with friendly atmosphere in different countries and I'd be glad if you keep company to me and show something unique and not mentioned in tourist guidebooks! Moreover, I'm really keen on history, culture icluding food and traditions but just reading about them in museum booklets or hearing from guides is rather boring. It would bring me a pleasure to find out some peculiar funny facts exactly from you. And of course in exchange I would tell about my country's peculiarities as well.
~
By the way, although I am not able to host someone in Kyiv (I live in a student dormitory with strict superintendent), I can go out with you and show you my cityand some places with extraordinarily delicious food.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The most important thing is stories of course! Being a student in Ukraine differs from being one in other countries thus I can tell some creepy horror stories from my own experience.
I also prefer sharing some small gifts like snacks or souvenirs with foreigners so be sure I'll bring them anyway)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Montenegro, Russian Federation, Turkey
