About Me

Hi there,

I've had a lot of years of ill health after having a massive brain haemhorrage when I was 24 11 long years ago. I had to have a craniotomy and after the 2.5 weeks in a coma my left side was paralyzed. I slowly regained my motor skills but I developed epilepsy and its a tough condition. I got diagnosed with chronic fatigue a couple of years ago and have had to spend far too much time in my flat on my own sofa and not being able to go out or do much.
Now that I'm finally starting to feel better and feel like I'm starting to get my life back I'd like to try out some other peoples couches! ;0) But more importantly I want to see and experience some more of the world and the lovely people that are in it!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, apart from some couch variation I hope to be able to get off my own couch and have some fun, meet some cool new people and have some lovely experiences! :0)

Interests

Music is my life blood, if I hadn't had 6 Music over the past few years then things would have been unbearably tough. So going to more gigs is totally on the agenda! I do have a love of beautiful open spaces whether its a park in a town or city, walking along a beach front, or standing on top of a hill taking in a majestic view. I do appreciate interesting Art and plan to start learning how to dance (properly!) in the up coming weeks.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is tough to go into as there is SO much I could mention! At the mo I'm really into War on Drugs, Stevie Wonder, Jungle, The Charlatans, Public Service Broadcasting, Gaz Coombes, Villagers, Hot Chip, First Aid Kit, Nick Mulvey and tons more!!!
I've watch a whole load of films on this sofa of mine and one that I found really touching was called 'One Chance'. It's a beautiful story of hope overcoming his own adversity and inner demons and reaching for and achieving his dream. Love him or hate him - James Cordan is great in it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Over coming paralysis has gotta be it! But I guess also writing a chapter in a book to help others with brain injury understand why they feel emotionally like their life has been blown apart and that they know they are not alone in what they are going through.

Teach, Learn, Share

I think we can all teach and learn from our own wisdom that we have gathered from our varied experiences in this world. More specifically, a bit of Yoga if anyone wants to do some?
