About Me

Hey there, I'm a girl from Russia, talkative, keen on languages, cultures, art and simply exploring the world. I was involved in different cultural activities, worked as a teacher of aesthetics, a guide and as a translator in a theatre. I am a vegetarian since my 15 years. I enjoy both nature and urban landscapes. I like getting new impressions and meeting different people from different parts of the world, but now I'm not an active member of the couchsurfing community.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just can't describe how great my couchsurfing experience was. I really appreciate people I've met in all the places where I've stayed. Couchsurfing is fantastic, I've learned a lot about lifestyles, cultures and characters.

Interests

- art (contemporary installations, objects and sculpture, modern art, fauvism, post-impressionists, pre-Raphaelites, barocco, Proto-Renaissance, Gothic paintings, frescoes of Ancient Rome, Minoan art)
- music
- sculpture (ancient, gothic, modern and contemporary)
- languages (mostly French and German at the moment, but I've had some experience in many other languages during my school and university years: Old-Greek, Latin, Italian, Turkish, Sanskrit etc. )
- singing (can't live without singing. I've been collecting songs from different parts of the world. Now i remember some in English, Russian, German, Japanese, Hindi, Icelandic and Swedish)
- philosophy of art (actually, it was my main subject of study)
- travelling (naturally)
- cooking (always ready to cook something new if without meat)
- walking (I can walk for hours and I don't use that much public transport)
- talking
- drinking beer/wine

I'm also able to give advice about contemporary Russian music

I'm fond of singing and I was a member of a jazz-fusion-progressive band, now just singing at home after work)

Movies:
I can't say I've already found my favourite film. There is still too much to explore.
I like 'La grande bellezza' and 'Youth' by Sorretino, the trilogy of Pasolini ( Boccaccio's Decameron, The Canterbury Tale, Il fiore delle mille e una notte), some of Visconti's movies. I also appreciate Iosseliani , Švankmajer, Truffaut and many others.

I like The Lord of the Rings since my childhood.

Books:
I appreciate many authors, but I don't have favourite one. Before I really liked Herman Hesse .

As a student I had to read many books and articles on visual art, sculpture, photography, modern philosophy and I still enjoy them.

In some way I'm into poetry, too, mostly modern

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once I shaved my head.

I had been learning French in German, understanding both of them quite vaguely, and it was ..successful!
