About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Survive living in the same 2 places for a few years(Manchester, UK during term-time and Køge, DK during summer holidays)

ABOUT ME

As of January 17 I'm a 25 year old Danish girl, stuck in Britain for studies(my dream study so it's not that bad, but I miss travelling).
I don't party a lot, I love a quiet night in, but I do go out every now and again(whenever I'm not working). I'm very neat, clean and somewhat tidy. I love my own food too much to go out for meals more than once in a while.
I have a love/hate relationship with challenging myself, I'm a horrid swimmer and get pretty wobbly from heights but still throw myself out of planes, go rafting whenever I get the chance and the like.
Everything about nature, history and especially animals is in my interest. I want to learn and know everything, save for math and politics, I just can't find any interest in those two areas.
I go back to Denmark once a year for 6-7 weeks, at least that's what I've been doing so far, mainly because I feel bad for leaving my family(I feel bad for not missing them more). I've lived in Australia(QLD) for a good 6 months. Then pressed on to BC, Canada for 5 months and finished my Canadian WHV in Toronto. Before leaving TO I knew I had to keep on travelling, I moved back to OZ for another year staying in WA(Beverley and Nannup) and NSW(near Albury) doing more farm work. I've travelled most of Oz, having only missed some very touristy spots and the Kimberleys(I'll be back for that!).
I currently live most of the year in Manchester, studying Wildlife Biology, and dreaming of the day I've got money to travel again.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't let your fears limit you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I've just surfed a bit in Australia, it was one great experience after the next. I will be hosting one day, but that's not anything happening soon as I don't have a permanent place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first encounter was a host in Brisbane, he was so nice and made me realize how great an opportunity it would be to meet locals everywhere. I have only surfed a few places in Australia, but definitely hope to be able to surf more.

Interests

Before people have known me long they discover my passion for animals, wildlife in particular. Save for spiders I'm not afraid of any animals, and love handling/taking care of them. I enjoy history as well, I have studied Classical Archaeology(Romans and Greeks) for 2 years, dropped out and finally got offered a spot for "Wildlife Biology" at Manchester Metropolitan University, lifelong dream coming true!
I seem to have an inner map of the world and wouldn't mind just travelling from one country to the next the rest of my life, working with wildlife if/when possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love both books, movies and music, in whatever order I feel like.
When it comes to books I dare say I'm not a complete snob. I don't read a lot of new books, and avoid crime/detective stories, but any random old book someone used to love will do. I have a thing for all things labelled "Classic".
I'm a bit more picky with movies, I'll generally be unable to decide what to watch, but love the cinema every now and again.
Music isn't anything I could live without, even for a day. I prefer European music in the "Of monsters and Men" kind of feel. That said, The Lumineers and Bon Iver belong to my favourites.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There's a few things: Survived the Australian outback, went to Vegas all by myself, jumped a 10 meter cliff into the Bow river despite being wary about heights and a bad swimmer, worked outdoors in both +50 and -40 degrees celsius. Gone looking for brown bears in Sweden(didn't see them) and camped for a few weeks in Iceland, and hiked alone on the Faroe Islands.

Teach, Learn, Share

I generally enjoy learning, anything could potentially catch my interest, so share what you know.
I can probably teach most people a bit about animals, history, archaeology, nature and random stuff that pops up, I remember what I read quite well and therefore know a lot of weird stuff.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences living in different parts of Australia, Canada, Britain(and Denmark), maybe some cooking, the best books I've read, my passion for animals, nature and everything cool, weird or interesting.
