ABOUT ME
Hi I'm Natalia! Im a 24 year old from Sydney Australia! I have studied a bachelor of Science for 2 years then changed courses beginning of 2012 to a Bachelor of Natural Science (animal science). I graduated in April 2015 then traveled to Vietnam for a month solo. I am now working for a mobile petting zoo, taking baby animals to kids parties and schools etc. I also just started working for a before and after school care where I get payed to play with kids!
In Feb 2016 I will begin my TAFE studies to become a Vet Nurse.
I LOVE animals and wish to study to become a wildlife veterinarian. I am determined to be the next Jane Goodall! I hope to live in South Africa one day and work for animals! Possibly providing vet services to places off the beaten track. One of my life purposes is to educate people in the proper treatment of animals in third world countries.
I love experiencing new things, new cultures, animal encounters, exploring and adventure! I love meeting people who have amazing stories..i get so absorbed in their stories i could listen for hours! and most of the time i just wish i had their life. But i want to make my life that exciting! My life so far has only been about education and i have been fortunate enough that my family has gone on many holidays so i have experienced and seen a lot.
I am Sicilian background and love sharing my aussie italian culture :)
My Bf and I recently got matching tattoos that say "we are here now"
PHILOSOPHY
Be.Do.Have
many people live by "have be do" but that doesnt get them far. for example they will say when i am living in Italy i will have my own animals and cheese factory, and ill make my cheese and ill be happy" - very random example i just made up. it can be simpler as "when i move house ill stop smoking then ill be healthy and happy"
But people dont realise that first u must be someone for the possibility, then do something to get the result. u cant get the result first. its quite powerful and i want it tattood one day soon!
There are so many quotes from amazing figures that really resonate with me and give my life meaning and direction:
-“Here we are, arguably the most intelligent being that’s ever walked planet Earth, with this extraordinary brain … and yet we’re destroying the only home we have.”
Jane goodall
-unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. its not.
The Lorax
-"you can own the earth and still, all you'll own is earth until, you can paint with all the colours of the wind"
Disney's Pocahontas ♥
-a short film video asked a litter girl (maybe 4 years old) this question, and i couldnt agree more with her answer! hahaha
"if you're going to tell the world one thing Ruby what would it be?"
"FLOWER!!"
The movie "into the wild" had some really powerful messages in it and some of my favourite quotes are
"I read somewhere... how important it is in life not necessarily to be strong... but to feel strong. "
"The core of mans' spirit comes from new experiences."
"you are wrong if you think that the joy of life comes principally from the joy of human relationships. God's place is all around us, it is in everything and in anything we can experience. People just need to change the way they look at things. "
"Happiness only real when shared. "
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I dont understand the question "how i participate" but I hope that there are some lovely people out in the world to offer me their couch for a night or 2 to help me on my journey. Being a full time science student i dont get much spare time or money :|
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have never couch surfed using this site before however in year 11 (2008) I spent 1 week with a host family in Osaka Japan and they were SO nice they have me their own bed! It was very funny with the language barrier and we mostly communicated with sign language and squinting eyes with concentration trying our hardest to understand! I got food poisoning (i regularly fall victim to this!) on the second day and spent the night in hospital trying to explain to the japanese nurses that couldnt speak a word of english that i ate food off the side of the road (learnt my lesson) and that 4 weeks earlier i had my gall bladder out. That was a fun game of sharades! They drew me funny pictures of food and a sick face and a stomach. I was so sick and felt horrible but it was so hilarious!
I posted on couch surfing while i was in rotorua and found someone who wanted to hang with me and a local who was fantastic at taking me around and let me come over for a bbq and was so much fun! He even brought me my towel at 6am after i forgot it at his place!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most amazing experience in my life....riding on horse back in Queenstown to see the set of the lord of the rings. The mountains/hills are so majestic and breath taking. You wish your eyes had cameras in them. No photo can do that place justice. And to be on a horse back just makes me feel right at home (not that i have a horse, but my obsession with animals)
15mins after getting off a coach from Rotorua to Taupo i was bungie jumping! Completely spontaneously! then hiked for 2 hours to a massive glacial waterfall!
Teach, Learn, Share
I have my limited (when compare to doctors and people of the field) knowledge of animal, nature and biology to share which i LOVE to share and mostly share it no matter what. I have life tools to get me through tricky or tough times/situations and also to embrace what ever life throws at me (sorta like the movie Yes Man but more practical)
I am open to learning pretty much anything! languages, dances, cooking special meals, how to conduct special rituals to particular cultures, different religions, to surf, ski, bunji, white rapids, deal with a rhino encounter, shoot, tattoo, paint
What I Can Share with Hosts
All my knowledge, i can cook simple things such as mexican and italian. I can make bread or pizza fresh. I can help with any simple medical aid your pets/animals may need. I can always help clean and think it should be expected of a host to clean after yourself.
