ABOUT ME

A researcher and journalist who loves a good story, people, art, places, cultures, diversity and learning new things. I'm a positive, easygoing, funny, respectful, openminded and spontaneous person. I'm also a good company to talk and hang out, especially to go to the theater, to the beach and to a cycle ride. :)I'm currently a blogger at an international site about journalism (you can see my posts here: https://knightcenter.utexas.edu/users/natalia-mazotte) and a master student in Communication and Culture at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. Besides, I work at the communication department of a NGO twice a week.

PHILOSOPHY

I strongly believe that we can build a better society based on sharing, solidarity and reciprocity, and that we're constantly evolving.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm a really CS enthusiast! But I'm a new Cser and I haven't hosted or surfed yet. I'll be open to it as soon as I move to my new place (in August). Until then, I'll try to attend the CS Meetings in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and help with translations and researches about the CS community. I'm also available for a cup of coffee.

兴趣

I really love theater and arts in general. I'm also interested in exchanging experiences, in good chats (especially with clever people who see life in different perspectives), in politics, actvism, gastronomy, outdoor activities, photography.

Music: Mostly bossa nova and blues. My favorite singers/bands are Regina Spektor, Stacey Kent, Fiona Apple, Vinicius de Moraes, Tom Jobim, João Gilberto, The Beattles, Nouvelle Vague, Billie Holiday, Dave Matthews, Beirut, Massive Attack, Roberta Sá, Janis Joplin, Los Hermanos, Yann Tiersen, Novos Baianos.Movies: Mostly Sci-fi and documentary. My favorite movies are Star Wars, Matrix, Blade Runner, Requiem for a dream, Fight Club, Black Swan, Le petit Nicolas, 12 angry man, What the bleep do we know?, Les quatre cents coups, Almodóvar, Fernando Meirelles, Close encounters of the third kind, Inside Job, The fog of war. Books: Mostly philosophy and latin american literature. My favorite authors are Jorge Luis Borges, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Guimarães Rosa, Clarice Lispector, Thomas Mann, George Orwell, Samuel Beckett, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer, Foucault.

I love to share information, knowledge and skills. I think that non self-interested relationships are the most human kind of interaction. I'd love to teach languages (the ones that I know well), to show the places I consider nice to visit, to exchange some ideas about culture, philosophy, politics and countries around the world. I also think that it's amazing to learn with other people and their experiences, to understand another points of view besides yours own.
