About Me
What I do most in my regular life:
I study History with great interest; in particular, I'm interested in power structures and dynamics. It seems to me that the world is as fcked up in many ways as it is because of exactly those.
What I do in my not-so-regular life:
A few weeks before my holidays, a vague idea will begin to form in the dark recesses of my brain. I'll steal some time to research trails, trains and weather conditions. A week before, I'll often still have no clue how I'll get where and for how long exactly, but eventually, things will fall into place and I'll find myself on some hiking trail or other, tent and stove on my back, enjoying the solitude, the calm and the nature.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of going to a place I've never been to before and having a "home" there. As for our flat, we all like it when it brimms and feels alive and there's interesting people around - even though some of us are quite busy at times.
Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC-wise, I'm a bit of a metalhead (for the fellow headbangers, some of my favourite bands are Arch Enemy, Dark Tranquillity, Rotting Christ, and the amazing Alcest) - but I like a lot of other stuff, too, and I LOVE the eighties. Seeing them swirl around through the fog on rollerblades in the videos just makes me happy :D
As for MOVIES, almost everything by Hayao Miyazaki and Wes Anderson is holy. Then there are these great Danish comedies with humour so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your eyes if you were inside of it. And then there's tons of other films that I really like, but suffice it to say that I dearly like to watch movies.
BOOKS - I like classical literature (English 19th century tends to be good) - but I also really like (and certainly read it more often) light, entertaining stuff like The Hitchhikers' Guide or the Discworld novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Two years ago, I packed a tent, a stove and some other stuff, took a train to Sweden and went hiking in the forest for 5 weeks all by myself. Not only was it the first time I went hiking for that long, but also the first time ever I slept in the forest all alone. In the beginning, I was scared shitless every evening, but I stuck it out. My love for long-distance hiking, the woods and sleeping outside has remained, and with it the most amazing memories. Since then, I've been hiking a lot more; 4 months last summer, and then shorter trips of a week or two whenever I had holidays.
