About Me

I am a writer, musician and traveller currently attending the University of Victoria to take an English degree while I continue to work on becoming a published author. I'm a bookworm with a reading list that could stretch from here to PEI, and yet I have a habit of rereading Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings over and over again - somehow I find new inspiration every time.

I am also an outdoor enthusiast, an environmental activist, and an island girl - while I currently live in Victoria, my home will always be the Gulf Islands, with their untouched forests, rocky beaches and beautiful local farm stands.

I'm a dreamer, and a wanderer, and I have a habit of doing things differently than most people, and usually in all the wrong order. When I graduated from high school, I travelled and worked, and am only now heading off to first year university.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travel as a way of discovering new ways of life and expanding my horizons. As Henry David Thoreau says "How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live." I really want to live, to feel truly alive. I want to dance in the rain and feel the light of the rising sun brushing my face from the top of a volcano. I want to snorkel and rock climb and eat gelato in Italy. And I want to meet new people, and form connections all over the world. Couchsurfing just seems to fit with that hope. I want to learn from and to listen to all of you.

Interests

I am a writer and have spent most of my life writing and rewriting novels, poems, and articles. I'm a little bit obsessed, to be honest, and spend most of my time with my nose in a book or my fingers racing across my keyboard.

I also love hiking, swimming and exploring the outdoors.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, along with the works of Jane Austen, L.M. Montgomery and Tamora Pierce.

I listen to a ridiculous range of music - everything from Ed Sheeran, to Great Big Sea, to Queen, to Birdy, to Said the Whale.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been wonderfully fortunate to do a lot of incredible things in my relatively short life, but the most incredible by far was my three month solo backpacking trip across Southeast Asia.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn more about cooking different dishes and looking after gardens and animals. I'd also love to learn more about unique cultures and ways of life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to be able to share my music, poetry and stories.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, France, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States
