About Me

I'm 26 and have a rather restless soul. I have a need to travel and explore the world that seems to stem from my Sagittarius roots. I am looking for a job on a yacht in FT Lauderdale but need a place to stay while looking. An option like this would be ideal for me being a broke college graduate. I do not smoke and think it's pretty gross, to be honest. I'm a huge reader and writer. My favorite books are Harry Potter (yea yea), Mistborn trilogy, and I just currently started Shattered Sea by Joe Abercrombie and am completely in love with them.
I write poetry, well, I basically ramble and spill my guts when the time feels right. I have a blog on wordpress called V as in Vixon.
I find myself to be pretty hysterical and love laughing the most.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm looking to find a safe place to stay while I job hunt in Ft. Lauderdale. I also love to meet new people and meet locals who can show me how to not be a tourist :)

Interests

Reading, writing, singing, learning guitar (not going so hot), anything that gets my mind going. I love nature and just exploring things without knowing the outcomes. I like kids a lot, too. My nieces and nephew are the coolest kids I know.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not a huge movie person. I watch the same movies over and over again because I enjoy them. Anything Melissa McCarthy is great. MIndless chick flicks while painting my nails is good. Love Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson pretty hard....so The Rundown is top notch for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went white water rafting on an expert level trail in my own "duckie" (canoe type thing) as a complete novice.
We got upgraded to the hardest waters because the lower waters were too low...then we couldn't be in one big raft, as intended, because the water was still too low. So we got a free "upgrade" to risk our lives more so.
I have never been more scared in my life, nor had more fun. I literally almost drowned at one point, busted my knee, and went down rapids during a thunderstorm.
Best experience ever.

Teach, Learn, Share

I feel that I'm connected with the world around me more so than the average person. Listening, learning, and exploring are how I connect with others and the world, in general. There is this quote in one of my favorite childhood books, Stargirl by Jerry Spinelli, and it says, “The earth is speaking to us, but we can't hear because of all the racket our senses are making. Sometimes we need to erase them, erase our senses. Then - maybe - the earth will touch us. The universe will speak. The stars will whisper.”
This makes me feel at home every time I read it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm pretty funny. I don't get upset easily, I can laugh at myself just as much as I can at others. Not in a malicious way, but in a "can you believe that just happened??" way.
I'm not a great cook, but I am a good pot stirer and quesadilla maker.
I'm clean. I love Clorox wipes more than a person should.
I'm optimistic. Having a bad day? We'll hang out and you'll forget all about it.
I sing. House too quiet? Put me in a shower and you'll get a nice little Norah Jones and Sarah Bareilles concert.
