About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"if the world were merely seductive, that would be easy. if it were merely challenging, that would be no problem. but i arise in the morning torn between a desire to save the world and a desire to savor the world. this makes it hard to plan the day."
ABOUT ME
i am a seeker who loves a good laugh, and am also a creature of habit. i'm open to those that are different from me, and am constantly learning and changing with the seasons. i'm an english teacher in lyon, france, but have worked as a hostel manager, canoe guide, philanthropic program assistant, and and housekeeper in the jungle. i believe strongly that every individual has a story to share, and cross-cultural and cross-linguistic exchange is a cornerstone of social progress. i consider myself lucky to be able to travel a bit in life, and simply want to get to know people along the way.
PHILOSOPHY
when the seasons change again, then i will, too.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
i've worked as a manager of a small hostel/bed and breakfast on the california coast, and also at an eco-camp in the jungle in the virgin islands. in addition, i've travelled a bit and appreciated welcoming hosts along the way as more than just places to stay, but as good friends and sources of knowledge. in the end, the most valuable part of travel is the people you meet along the way.
Interests
learning from those who are very different from me, treading lightly on the earth, collaboration with the enemy towards progress, conversations over small cups of coffees or large glasses of wine. yoga, climbing, nature, food culture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
elephant seals returning to the northern california coast from alaska. after a long bike ride up the coast, coming across the breeding grounds of these odd and beautiful creatures was true beauty.
gathering driftwood at sunset in voyageurs national park for an evening campfire, with the water like glass underneath the canoe, and watching a family of beavers float past the side of my boat.
