About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live like a hearth-fire, sharing warmth and love with those who draw near.

Let's just be humans together.

ABOUT ME

I'm a storyteller. Writing, acting, improvising, filmmaking. I believe stories have the power to heal invisible wounds, and my writing tends to be fantastical with some element of magic. I have worked with kids at a live-action roleplaying camp for the last two years and it's the best job in the world.

Also, I am a volunteer deckhand on the Lady Washington tall ship, which played the role of "The Interceptor" in the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie. A PIRATE’S LIFE FOR ME.

I drink an almost unreasonable amount of tea most days. Herbal, green, black-- throw it at me, I'll chug it.

I believe that climbing trees is good for your health, especially if you don't fall off, and children, puppies and kittens are the best teachers because they always do what makes them happy.

I'd rather drink tea and play a board game or go on a walk than go to a club. I appreciate good wine, beer, and mead, but rarely have more than two glasses. I don't need drugs or alcohol to have a heck of a good time! That being said, I homebrew mead and wine, and will be learning to brew beer this winter.

I do not tolerate intolerance, everyone's welcome in my life. It is a delight to be an ally to any identity, and love comes easy when you take the time to understand. Cooking and sharing food means a lot to me because when you think about it, you're giving someone the energy and nutrients to sustain life. So, the happier and healthier the food, the happier and healthier my loved ones can be.

PHILOSOPHY

"The purpose of life is to find your gift, the meaning of life is to give your gift away."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I got into Couchsurfing when I was filming a documentary in Alaska, and I've had a hard time traveling any other way since then. Getting to explore a new place with someone who knows the area and shares a passion for making connections replenishes my faith in humanity.

I've only been able to host a few people over the years, and I look forward to being able to host many more!

Interests

Filmmaking, acting, writing, hiking, camping, climbing rocks, swimming, stopping to smell the roses, cringing at tall ship sailing, listening to and telling stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

Captain Fantastic, What We Do in the Shadows, Son of Saul, Baraka, LOTR, and WONDER WOMAN (amen).

I will eternally love the Lord of The Rings trilogy, and I have been a fan of Game of Thrones since season 1. (And I've read the books, so of you're also a GOT fan we can nerd out as much as you can handle.) I recently discovered Xena Warrior Princess, and that's been a game changer.

I love love LOVE Celtic music. The only concerts that pull me through the doors are usually local folk and blues groups. Otherwise, I'd rather play boardgames than see a group I'm not that interested in.

Brandi Carlile is my soul singer. "There's a Beauty in the Struggle." Yes there is, Brandi, yes there is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Bio-luminescent plankton! Skinny dipping in Teddy Bear Cove outside of Bellingham, your body glows in the water like you're wading through starlight.

Saw a solar eclipse in 100% totality.

Filmed a humpback whale from a doorless helicopter off a remote island in Alaska. That was fun.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to play Hobbit tunes on the Irish Tin Whistle, or to do fancy Olde English Calligraphy.

Teach me about your favorite plants! And why they are your favorite! And where we can go walking with said favorite plants!

Share what makes you smile and I'll promise to do the same.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A zest for life that's as tangy and fresh as lemon cake.

Countries I’ve Visited

Denmark, England, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway
