Overview
About Me
I graduated from university where I studied computational linguistics. Now I am trying to understand what is going on and which activity is worth dedicating myself to so that I can do my best to change the world. I take film photos and cook vegan food. I am interested in philosophy, politics and art.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
At the university, I encountered a strong community of students who travel. I used to travel a lot with my parents as a child, but those trips were much more about comfort and tours and hotels. At that time, I couldn't even imagine that being short of money you still have all the opportunities to discover the world. And this is just the same what most of the students in Ukraine are. However, young people of liberal ideas found the way to explore at least their country. We hitchhike and use Couchsurfing. It may sound rather simple, but we do it not just to save money. People of our age and of our political circumstances feel a gigantic cultural gap between us and our parents' generation, the gap between different regions of our country, the financial gap etc. The whole philosophy appeared: travelling at first place is not a way to entertain yourself, it is a great step towards understanding, the most natural cultural act.
Interests
I am mostly interested in art and cultural studies. I like taking photos, watching films, reading some good books. I also like sports including cycling and volleyball.
When travelling I pay strong attention to the cities, how they are constructed and how people who live there or visit them communicate with those. It gives me some kind of understanding on both the culture and the politics of the place that I visit. Moreover, we are currently struggling to build the more efficient communities and the more comfortable public spaces in Ukraine.
