About Me

Hi there,
My name is Natasha. I grew up in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia however I am currently living in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. My family, many friends and boyfriend (Andrew Clapp - also on couchsurfing.com ) live in Melbourne so I am always travelling back and forth between Sydney and Melbourne.

I have done a little traveling including a 6 weeks cultural exchange via Lions Clubs International where I went to Finland for 3 weeks, Denmark for 2.5 weeks and London for 3 days. This awakened the travel bug in me and since this trip, I have been OBSESSED with Finland and cannot wait to return. I started learning the language a little while ago but have not had a lesson in a while. I volunteered for 3 months in a Peace Village in Germany and loved Germany so much and truly enjoyed my time there. I was lucky enough to return to Denmark, and Finland during this time, and also went to Switzerland.
I went to New Zealand 2 years ago with my boyfriend and sister (Maddie) (fun fact: Maddie and Andrew were friends for a few years and that's how Andrew and I met) and saw Hobbiton, Rotorua, glow worm caves and went for a few hikes.

I consider myself to be open minded, I love a chat or to have a friendly debate, enjoys listening to other people's stories, sharing experiences, discussing politics, cultural trends and the big questions in life. I am passionate when it comes to environmental issues, animal welfare and human rights. I love animals, movies, Australian Rules football, ice hockey, fishing, music, and dance!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have created this profile for future trips and one day I would like to host (I can't at this point in time.)
I am returning to Finland in mid June this year and want to bring my boyfriend along and show him all the wonderful Finnish things I have come to love.
We are looking for someone to host both of us. If you would like to see his profile, here is the link https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/andrew.clapp

If you want to know anything about either of us, just send me an email :)

Interests

-Children. I work at Sydney Children's Hospital where I provide Orthoses (braces and splints) for children. These may be to align crooked backs, help children walk, fix "clicky hips" in babies, etc

- Animals (love both cats and dogs equally)

- Cooking (love to experiment with different styles and flavours)

-Australian Politics

-International healthcare systems / cultures

-Documentaries (particularly cosmos and anything sciency. Also enjoy historical ones too)

-Camping

-Fishing (I go a couple times a year and was taught by my father)

-Vintage clothing, hair and makeup; depending on what mood I am in but mainly 1940s and 1950s styles. I do like anything from 1920-early 1960s

Music, Movies, and Books

-Books: Almost anything but favourite include Harry Potter, Ender's Game, A Song of Ice and Fire, Catch 22, Escape from Camp 14 and Mighty be our Powers

-Movies: I will watch anything but have my reservations about horror/ gore. LOVE tacky terribly corny movies like The Room or Barbarella. Also enjoy anything with Cyd Charisse or Gene Kelly.

-Music: I grew up in a house of heavy metal (Metallica, Judas Priest, Deep Purple) and so feel quite at home with heavy metal in my life. Favourite music includes swing and jazz (Django Reinhart, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Prima), Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, ELO. Also like anything on the radio and all the "doof doof" (dance) but not really into "humina humina"(new Rnb). Personally I think Nikki Minaj is a joke yet I know all the words to "stupid ho" and Kanye West is the worst person in the world but I still like a couple of his songs...
hate Nickelback

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was volunteering in Germany, my friend and I felt a little bored and wanted to do something nice for the weekend. We decided to just pack our bags, grab our passports, head for the airport and ask for the first flight out of the country...that is how I discovered Zurich
