After finishing university last year, two friends and I decided to take advantage of our new-found freedom and go on a once in a lifetime adventure to visit the USA, because why not?!. I love a bit of philosophy and politics but believe life is too short not to have a laugh along the way. I drink more coffee than tea, love chocolate, love exploring and hope to eventually work for a charity.

I've found that a huge part of what makes travelling fun is the people you meet, whether they're witty, kooky, clever, good story-tellers, a mix or the kind of person you've never even come across before... Hopefully it is also a way to witness the kindness of strangers who take pity on travellers who need a roof over their heads! As soon as I am back in England with my own place I plan to invite other Couchsurfers to my humble abode.

Interessi

Anthropology, which I studied at university remains a big interest of mine, which is yet another reason to travel and see what else is out there. I enjoy a political chat as much as chatting about nothing, admiring sweeping views, wandering through museums and galleries or just chilling in the park. Reading is a big interest for me, going for walks in the country or swimming are others. In short, I want to experience a variety. Hopefully I will go back into education in a year or so to do a Masters in Anthrozoology - brought about my love of animals, which has also made me a vegetarian.

Musica, film e libri

The Lies of Locke Lamora series by Scott Lynch is at the top of my list of books. Full of adventure and great characters. Random Acts of Heroic Love by Danny Scheinmann is definitely another of my favourites. I read it first at school for the Carnegie but have read it many times since. Currently I am engrossed in Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Parsig but I will always have time for a bit of Harry Potter or the odd Stephen King - 'It' remains the longest book I've ever read. I'll be willing to try most films and music. I enjoy Jack Johnson on sunny, lazy days, Iron and Wine or Adem for evenings, Reel Big Fish.... the list goes on! Music, books and films are certainly pastimes I am looking forward to swapping and sharing.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

When I was travelling in South Africa four years ago I dared myself to do the world's highest bungy jump from Bloukrans Bridge. This turned out to be one of the most exhilirating and memorable experiences of my life - I will never forget the beautiful view of the valley whilst I was hanging upside down! Sometimes you have to scare yourself and get out of your comfort zone to do something memorable.

I get annoyed that I can only speak one language so if there is any basic Spanish you can pass on please do! Anthropology has taught me stories from all over the world. I think the art of storytelling (which I admit is not my forte!) is a wonderful way to connect people of all ages and cultures. The more stories there are (whether face to face, books, films, anything), the more understanding or wonder or inspiration there is. And of course, a laugh from a good funny story never goes amiss.
