About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Engage fully in the place I currently am. Live with compassion, empathy, love, and energy.

ABOUT ME

I like to think that I'm crazy adventurous and always doing something new. Spontaneity is my favorite form of procrastination. Long chats with my roommates over cups of hot tea, volunteering on a farm husking corn for four hours, and zipping along the river bike path at dusk are some of the things that keep me alive and full of energy. I love trying to understand contrasting points of view from my own, and gain great satisfaction in learning how other people live differently than I do. While I'm dreaming of where I'll be off to next, I still like to remember to slow down and smell the freshly rain-soaked earth beneath my feet.

PHILOSOPHY

Live in the now. Empathize, love, listen, and respect. Laugh, hug, smile, and stay ridiculous!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to host when I live in one place, and love to surf whenever I'm traveling. Also happy to meet up with travelers just to provide a friendly face and local information - traveling can be taxing and the more people helping you out, the better the experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I totally enjoyed hosting surfers at my home in Eugene, and when I went on a crazy sailing trip in October 2013, I felt so fortunate to meet some awesome people along the way - sharing stories, food, and local information. Love this network! Thank you!

Interests

Friends laughing. Family. Travel. New perspectives. Awareness and empathy.

I love live music and dancing, and I can teach you to dance Argentine tango if you'd like.

I love food. Cooking with friends, growing food in community gardens, and experimenting with recipes using no measuring devices. =)

Favorite thing to do in my free time? A calm evening by candlelight, with some hot tea, good company, captivating stories, and good laughs. Nothing is better than time spent with friends.

Music, Movies, and Books

The Only Kayak by Kim Heacox. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. Pirates of the Caribbean and The Lord of the Rings. Dirty Dancing. The Aristocats. The Allman Brothers Band.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Unnamed glacier above Glacier Creek Valley in the Purcells Wilderness of British Columbia, Canada: not only were we camping by several glaciers... but I felt like I was living WITH them too... they were so alive! You could hear the incessant roar of the melting water pouring out beneath their massive bodies, and yet they seemed so permanent, so still. And then you would hear a sudden crash, and run to the clearest view searching for where the ice had fallen, and see the steady stream of snow and ice fall down the side of the ridge.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to dance Argentine tango, some basics of urban farming, what plants and animals live around Eugene, or to fall in love with the Colorado mountains. I could talk forever about environmental issues, education reform, and social injustice among other things.

I'd love to learn bits of new languages, and new musical instruments or types of music. If you love it and enjoying teaching people, I'd love to learn.
