About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I actually originally joined because I wanted to check for a friend if this would be a good website to use since my wife and I couldn’t host him and his wife at the time.

Music, Movies, and Books

First of all, my wife is a musician and I LOVE hearing her sing and play the piano. Her voice is literally the first thing about her that I fell in love with along with her smile and such. I am pretty random when it comes to music. I love pretty much anything and everything as long as I don't have to listen to it excessively. Again, my wife is amazing when it comes to music and she does a great job playing things I enjoy hearing, so for the most part, she controls what I hear. I especially enjoy the unique sounds of instruments such as the rubab, the kamancheh, the oud, and other such instruments. I'm a sucker for a good action movie tinted with a bit of comedy, but I couldn't name a favorite. Most recently, I really enjoyed The Greatest Showman. When it comes to fiction books, I would have to say that I mostly enjoy books that focus on outdoor experiences. I love to hike, so getting creative language for explaining the outdoor experience is a plus for me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

For me, one of the things I've had the privilege to do that has caused my heart to beat with life in a way that it never has before is when I've participated in efforts to bring joy to Syrian refugees and to give them some musical training. It's crazy for me to think that they once had just as much going for them as I do now, and yet many are living in the worst circumstances now and with a great deal of trauma from the events of recent years. I think reaching out to them is going to be a big part of the coming years of my life along with my wife. We have already helped a bit with education efforts and hope to participate in increasingly bigger education projects moving forward.
