I love meeting new people, especially people who lead different lives than what I'm accustomed to. I find it liberating to know that my way is not the only way. At the moment, I'm a traveling writer and editor on an open-ended journey. I spent a good half of the last year in Mexico and currently on the hunt for my new destination.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new on Couchsurfing.. In my travels, I try to avoid hostels and stay with local people as much as possible and many friends suggested that I try couchsurfing so here i am. I hope to meet good people and enjoy local life in the places I travel.

Interests

I have a bit of an obsession with grocery shopping. I just love going to local markets and examining produce. My latest discovery in Mexico was a delicious chaya greens native to the Yucatan.

Even though I made a strategic decision not to pack my hiking boots (too bulky) I'm always up for a hike, walk in nature, bike trip, or rolling over grass.. Mountains, sea, sailing, scuba, and everything in between:)

When I'm not reading or writing, I do like to further deteriorate my vision by watching TV shows. We can discuss Game of Thrones although I hope not too much :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently on a The National binge interrupted by spurts of Benjamin Leftwich and Fink. But it changes weekly. Actually i think my Spotify is in need some new music injections.

I never remember the names of movies i like (or dislike). But yes, I like movies.

With books, better I not get into it at all - some writers that have been on my mind lately in no particular order: John Steinbeck, Sandra Cisneros, Ernest Hemingway, George Orwell, Herman Hesse, Virginia Wolf, Alain de Botton..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have a flair for the dramatic - I like to pick up and move to new countries every few years (or so the track record shows). The latest amazing thing I've done was quitting my job, subletting my apartment, and embarking on a journey to get to know and understand another corner of the world...

If food isn't your thing (seriously?) i happen to be a Ottoman History teacher, writing workshop deliverer, language lover, travel expert :)
