About Me

Hi !

My name is Nathalie, I live near Le Mans in France (yes I'm French, so my English is not that good, sorry for the mistakes :'D).

I come from Britanny, which is obviously the most beautiful place in France (yes, I'm totally impartial, of course). Means that I appreciate a good drink, or two (or ten) and that butter has to be salted or not to be at all.
Even though I miss the sea and the kouign amann, Le Mans is a pretty good place to live too (but if you have the opportunity to go to Brittany, I highly recommend it... Okay, enough with that).

I work in a publishing house ; I love to read since I was a kid, so it is kind of a dream for me to make books ! :)
I also have a weird passion for spelling and grammar (you know that annoying friend that always corrects you when you make mistakes ? Well, that's me. But I'm also useful anytime you need me to check a dissertation or a letter of motivation, so don't judge me too quickly :) Anyway, I can't do that in English because of my low level, so you should be okay).

I think I am a polite, open-minded girl, but I'm a little shy. So it can be a bit hard for me to open to people I don't know, but when I connect with them, I can have very passionate conversation about almost everything. I think I can be funny too (but of course, not everyone will agree). So, I'm discreet at first, but can become pretty outgoing if I feel comfortable.

I don't travel that much because of work, but when I have some time, I love to see the world, mostly with my boyfriend.
So far, I have been to Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Slovenia, Italy, and Japan, which was my most incredible trip.
I dream of going to Peru, Canada, Iceland, and many others, and returning to Japan.
I try now to travel paying as much attention to the planet as possible (I avoid flying if there is an alternative, for example) ; I know I'm not perfect, but I'm trying my best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet new people, to share about our ways of life, our experiences ; I think those are very special moments and priceless lessons and memories.

When I'm on a trip, I like to discover the culture, the history, the beliefs, the secrets... everything that makes the country's life and that makes it special.
And if I host someone, I wish I could to the same for them.

Interests

I love crafting and DIY ; I like to draw, paint, sculpt, knit, crochet, and basically do anything that is crafting.
I also love music, I mainly listen to metal and rock. I've been going to the Hellfest every year since ten years, it's kind of my annual pilgrimage.

About passions that take way too much place at my home: I am a big fan of board games (no, not the Monopoly, modern board games) and books (of course).

I also like to play an instrument. In my young years, I tried to play the guitar, the piano, the harmonica... Mostly by myself, so I'm not really good at it, but still love it.
I took violin lessons for a few years ; doesn't mean that I'm better at it, but it makes it more official. I hope to play drums next year.

My greatest passion is nature. I love animals and plants. I'm very lucky to have a big garden, so I take care of my flowers, grow my own vegetables (not always a success, but it is so precious to eat one you actually sowed as a little seed), contemplate birds, butterflies and bees. And I have way too many plants in my home, and I love each one of them equally (that is not completely true, but I have to lie to them so they don't get offended... In case you were wondering, yes I can be weird).

I also have a dog, an adorable female Labrador, that my boyfriend and I adopted a few years ago from a shelter. Her name is Hylia, like the goddess in Zelda (yes, I like video games too). She's very sweet and she loves being stroked.

I have been a vegetarian for many years, because the animal cause is very important for me.
