Overview
About Me
My name is Nathalie and I was born and raised in Brazil, where I studied Law. My area of expertise is human rights law and I worked for almost 6 years at the federal government in Brazil. Previously, I lived in the U.S. as an exchange student and later, as a masters student, and in south Africa, as an intern in an NGO.
My passion for traveling and exploring places on my own started about 10 years ago when I was an exchange student in the US. I traveled as much as my time and budget allowed, stayed in hostels, friends or friends of friends' places and made lots of new friends on the road.
Since then, I always look for opportunities to explore new destinations as a tourist, study or work abroad, or just come back to places that I have really loved and spend some more time there, relaxing and unwinding.
I always look for ways to explore my travels from a more local perspective. I like to meet and connect with their people and get to experience its local culture, history and habits.
I am very chill and easygoing person. My hosts usually say that I am low-maintenance, because I am very independent, quiet, clean and organized. I blame it on my zodiac - virgo. So I can perfectly get around by myself and I won't like to be on your way, but if you have the time, I will definitely love your company and tips during my stay.
When traveling, I enjoy doing a mix of walking around all day and exploring all sites, but also meeting people, chilling and having a good chat over meal or drinks. I am not really a party person anymore, but I can be fun when I do it.
Also, I love pets. And I don't smoke. And I am really afraid of heights upside-down: when I am on the ground and looking up. So please don't take me to see any huge monuments, churches or bridges, because I might faint. :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have always been a fan of staying with friends who live in my destinations, so I can experience a little bit more of the local culture and day-to-day life and meet local people.
When I don't know anyone at my destination, I enjoy staying at hostels, where I can easily meet new people from different cultures and places, make new friends and go out in groups.
Couchsurfing is a perfect mix of what I look for when traveling. Getting to know a new place on a low-budget, meeting their people, making new friends and experiencing the local culture.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: pretty much everything. I do believe that all moments should have a sountrack. I love to chill and have a glass of wine listening to a good jazz, blues, samba, bossa nova, MPB. I love indie rock and pop. I get very excited listening and dancing to hip hop, funk and electronic music. I have recently been on this teenage vibe listening to Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber (who doesn't, really?). Most of the time I study and work listening to some music that will bring me focus.
But I am always mindful to keep it down around the house if people are doing something else.
Movies: everything that has Natalie Portman, Keira Knightley or Jude Law on it. I am a fan of documentaries and movies based on real facts. Dramas and comedies. No thrillers or too much action.
Books: I buy them much more than I can read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Get my pet, an amazing black pug that looks like a mix of a gorilla and a pig and a monster and the sweetest thing in the world.
