About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Having as many adventures as I can while still staying in University (Environmental Studies and Geography)

ABOUT ME

I am a Canadian University student living in Victoria BC. I have recently come back from a year of living in Europe and I miss meeting people from all over the world! I love being outside camping, skiing, climbing, hiking you name it and am always up for a new trip. I think that its important to always be exploring and discovering new places far away or even right in your own backyard. I am kind of obsessed with food - cooking, eating, watching cooking shows etc. and love trying new food around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Growing up in a little town in the woods definitely fuelled my love for the outdoors and appreciating the simple things in life. It also ensured that I am constantly behind on pop culture references and had about 3 friends growing up. However, being surrounded by nature has guided many of my choices in life, and is the reason that I am now studying geography and the environment at University. I am passionate about the state of our planet and humanity's future and current role within it. I am also really interested in society at a community scale and the social, economical and environmental benefits that can come from people connecting with eachother on a personal level and creating healthy community networks.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am pretty new to the couchsurfing scene. I have couchsurfed three times (2x with the same host) already in Denmark and once in Sweden and both were great experiences and an awesome way to connect with people in a new city. I also connected with a great couchsurfing community in London and met tons of locals and fellow travellers through that.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Couchsurfing for me so far has definitely been quality over quantity. I have stayed with 2 different hosts and had a great stay each time. I have also met some great people who were surfing with friends of mine both in Canada and in Sweden - so overall two thumbs for this awesome organization! I like the social aspect that couchsurfing provides and the local insight from staying with a host. Even little things like going to their favourite local pub or eating really good falafels together. I hope to meet more people through the CS community and get involved with the different activities that are organized within the network. It can be hard to meet people in a new city and I think that connecting with CS is a great bridge between travelers and locals.

Interests

I love travel, food, cooking, the environment, nature and adventures! But honestly who doesn't?! Like a bear, I definitely consider myself an omnivore when it comes to interests and tastes in different cateogries. Music, movies, food... I'm not picky and I'm always up to try something new. I love stories and meeting new people around the world is such a great way to hear and learn about all the incredible things that happen on this planet. Being social and outgoing can be so much fun but I am also just as likely to vote for chilling out with a good movie/book and a bowl of popcorn at my side. I think its important to try and find some balance between the two.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As you can see in my photos my sister and I constructed the Weasly's 'Burrow' gingerbread house last Christmas. I'd say it was pretty amazing. Done.
