About Me

Current Status: Late 20's, civil engineer from California, married to my wife Jordan for 3 years with a baby on the way.

My wife is a licensed counselor who loves people, animals, and good conversation.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It all started with my move to the Midwest. My wife and I traveled with a another couple that Couchsurfed a lot. We followed their lead and stayed with four hosts as we went from California to Illinois. It was amazing! I come from a hospitable family of seven. Even with a full house, we often had people spending the night and extra people living with us. Also, I love the hostel scene. For some reason, the shared desire to travel and explore builds a community that is raw and open. Rarely were my conversations shallow while I traveled across Europe. Couchsurfing seems to marry my passions into exciting experience which also allows us to see the better side of humanity.

Interests

I speak for both my wife and I when I say we love traveling. In the midst of traveling we like to hike a lot, meander museums, eat new food and of course meet new people. We love have deep and interesting conversations with others, and learning from our different life experiences.

Helping/serving people. Before my wife and I even knew each other, we chose our majors for the purpose of helping other. We obviously took different approaches, I studied civil engineering with concentration water-resources/treatment while she studied psychology (she is currently getting her MFT). It is our dream someday to live overseas and serve a country with our skills

Music, Movies, and Books

I can sing along every Simon and Garfunkel Song

The Back to the Future trilogy inspires me

I really dig Alexander Dumas' The Count of Monte Cristo

Currently into Solzhenitsyn's writings

My wife loves any movies from the 80's but particularly loves the Star Wars and Indiana Jones Trilogy. She is also an avid reader, favorites include Jane Eyre, Guns Germs and Steel, Harry Potter and Martin Luther Kings Jr.'s autobiography.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Turkey for one year, and not in Istanbul.

My wife has stayed in treehouses in Laos ziplining amongst gibbons, and has hiked to Macchu Picchu.

Teach, Learn, Share

Depending on how long you stay, I can teach you how to ride an unicycle, give you Turkish 101 and show you how to fix your car.

I love to learn new languages. I'm not very good, but if I can learn how to say hello, goodbye and count to ten, I'm pumped!

Food. Jordan is a great cook. Come, will have a meal together.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm kind of a handy man. If you need something small fixed around the house or on your car, I might be able to help. Message me before I arrive. I'll try to bring my tools. My wife and I are also willing to cook for and with our hosts, or simply bring some beer/wine.
