About Me

I'm on the cusp of a lot of changes including going back to school and possibly starting a career. My life might become a lot more boring in the next year, so I'm taking this opportunity to finally see Europe, to throw myself back out into the world and take advantage of freedom, adventure, and cultural exchange.

I spent my early twenties living and studying in Montreal. After my degree, I started planting trees all over Canada and haven't stopped since! I live in Vancouver now, but often miss Montreal and it's European flavour. I can't wait to experience the real Europe, and embark on a solo trip July 25th. My original plan was to spend a week or so in the Netherlands, France, and Germany before flying to Turkey, but given the political atmosphere, my plans are up in the air.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to connect with fellow travellers and local people. It's my first time travelling overseas and I want to get the most out of the experience! I'm also looking for less touristy/alternative things to do. I'm travelling solo and look forward to the personal and solitary experiences, but I love to socialize and as well and immerse myself in other cultures. I think couch surfing will be the best way to do this and to find my people while travelling.

I try to be the most kind, respectful, and helpful person possible when travelling. I'm tidy and really appreciate hospitality, so I think I make a great guest. I can tell you crazy stories about tree planting, a very strange and very Canadian job, I can share recipes and language and music and literature and thoughts on geography and politics. I love to share art and I am a great listener! Please tell me a story.

Music, Movies, and Books

I've been playing instruments seriously since I was a child, and I love sound and music. Piano, organ, guitar, accordion, French Horn, and trumpet are a few of the instruments I can play decently well. Live music is one of the best things, and I enjoy almost any genre that way. Jazz, classical, world music, electronic music, blues, and folk rock are some of my favourite genres.

I studied literature, so I have a lengthy list of favourites. I love short stories and creative non-fiction. George Saunders, Raymond Carver, and Alice Munro, and the Beats.

I can sometimes be picky about movies, but sipping a beer and watching an interesting film in an arthouse theatre (or at home!) is one of life's great pleasures.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Planted 300 000 trees.
I'm sure there's more, but we'll have to chat for it to come out!

Teach, Learn, Share

Languages, music, and food are my trinity. Let's talk, jam, and cook! I love to learn how other people do things.

I have just started getting into climbing - a bit outdoors, but mostly indoors. Let's go to some rock!
