Sobre mí

Where to start?! After finishing my second year at UCA, I've decided to take a gap year and see the country! I'll admit that the thought of not doing things the traditional way and getting my degree in four years is a bit scary; however, the timing is right. After working harder than I'd like to admit to maintain my 4.0 GPA the past two years and also not being in a relationship made me realize that I had very little to lose. So I've placed my scholarships on hold for the next two semesters and am anxious to see what the next 15 months have in store for me:)

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

Having lived in four and visited half of the lower forty-eight states, I have had the opportunity to see more of the country than most of my friends. If there is one thing I have learned from so much relocating growing up, it's that people ultimately make up the area in which you live/visit, and it is through meeting these people that we can learn more about them, the area in which they live, and hopefully, ourselves. While I love the comfort of sleeping in a hotel room for a night or two, I've never been a fan of how separated they make me feel from the town I'm visiting or even passing through. When I first heard about Couchsurfing, I was more than excited at the opportunity it could present me with to meet new, interesting, and like minded people whose hospitality would enable me to experience my Gap Year to its fullest potential.

Intereses

Working towards my Bachelors in Kinesiology, I have a passion for health and fitness, specifically for youth and young adults. It is my goal to find a job that enables me to work with this age group and teach them the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise.
I absolutely love helping people and plan to volunteer for six months with a U.S. based non-profit organization after I obtain my degree.
I love learning new things and am currently trying to learn the basics of filmography/photography and also how to make the perfect sushi.
I'll admit that I am a thrift store/yard sale junkie and have a bad habit of stopping at everyone I pass if I have the time.
I loveeee animals and plan on getting a dog when I return to college next year.

Música, películas y libros

I like a wide range of music, but you can often find me listening to anything on Majestic Casual's YouTube playlist, The 1975, The Drums, Miguel, M83, The Strokes, or really anything that you can dance around in your room by yourself to.

My movie tastes vary about as much as my music tastes. To name a few of my favorites: Good Will Hunting, Her, Interstellar, anything directed by Wes Anderson or starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt

And here it is, the sad moment where I realize that I read far less than I wish I did. Unfortunately college doesn't leave me with a whole lot of time for leisurely reading (apart from skimming through the latest issue of GQ or Details, a guy's gotta know how to dress sharp, right? haha) I will say that I was onboard the John Green bandwagon long before one existed and have read Looking For Alaska more times than I would like to admit. Lately I have been trying to find books relating more to ethics and philosophy, so if you have any recommendations they would be greatly welcomed! :)

Algo increíble que he hecho

I like to think of myself as a little more free-spirited and spontaneous than most of my friends, and one experience I'm proud of is when I dropped everything to travel 800 miles from home to pursue a job lead that I had. I wasn't guaranteed the job, but had my bags packed and was on the road within two hours to start the drive. I ended up getting the job and it taught me that I'm capable of a lot more than I thought as long as I'm willing to believe in myself and have the courage to take chances that I believe to right.

Enseña, aprende, comparte

Being 20, I may not be able to entertain you with a lecture on investing, astronomy, or mechanics, however I would be more than happy to discuss some of my interests with you, learn more about yourself, and experience what your town has to offer with you!

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I'll start by saying that not many people these days are open-minded and willing to let someone stay at their house out of hospitality and that even being considered to let me stay with you means a lot. That being said, I would make every effort to be as respectful as possible both to my host and their home. I love to go out and have a good time exploring new and unfamiliar places and couldn't think of a better way than having someone with the knowledge about those places show me around or point me in the right direction. Thank you for considering me, and I hope you have a great day :)
