Overview
About Me
Hi, I'm Nate, Nathan, or Schweaty. I'm a nineteen year old student from Texas, US.
I want to live a life full of exploration and discovery. I'm passionate about Ultimate frisbee and rock climbing, but just as passionate about the research I'm doing for my biomedical engineering lab. If that's not enough for you, I can also talk about music for days; I've played the piano for twelve years, the cello for six, and the bagpipes for two years. I don't really play the bagpipes that often anymore. For some reason it's unpopular with the neighbors.
I hope to learn something everywhere I go and share anything I know with anybody who wants to listen.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm traveling in Europe this summer, and I prefer to take the route that increases rich in social interaction and conservative in cash. Couchsurfing is perfect for that, and once I'm back in the States I hope I can provide equivalent opportunities.

Music, Movies, and Books
If I have to pick a favorite song from all the music I listen to, it would be Someday by the Strokes. I go for upbeat or at least up-tempo music. Either something light and enjoyable or energetic enough for dancing.
Movies, I go for the nerd classics - Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings, as well as all the new Marvel superhero movies. I'm a sucker for action-packed and funny blockbusters, but my latest favorite movie is the Imitation Game, which is a completely different kind of movie.
I used to read books all the time, but now I'm most often stuck reading research journals for my research. There's not much time for reading between school, research, video games, and spending time with friends, but there's still a soft part of my heart that just wants to curl up with a fat book and forget the world.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
On a hiking trip in August last year, I scrambled up to the top of one of the higher mountains in New Mexico in time to glimpse the first rays of sun. That was a beautiful and invigorating experience.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My life, my dreams, my perspective on the world. It's not every day you get a half-Korean, bagpipe-playing Texan in your home. I've lived the epitome of an American "melting-pot" life, and I've got the stories to prove it. I'm glad to talk about anything, and I'm a pretty good listener, too!
